The hydraulics have failed on my 1995 2.5 V6 Omega after 321,000 miles. None of the clutch has been replaced before so it is sensible to replace it all once the gearbox is off. I am not doing it myself as I am a bit old for such a job without a hydraulic lift etc. The garage can't obtain the parts from their usual suppliers and has ask me to obtain them. He recommends LUK, Sachs or Valeo. I am confused as the Omega parts breakdown and the Haynes manual for my both car indicate that there is clutch release bearing as well as a central clutch slave cylinder but my mechanic says he has never seen a car with both and all the clutch kits I have found for my car either have one or the other but not both. As my mechanic won't take it to bits until he has the replacement parts I am a bit stuck as to what to order. Has anyone done this job on a similar car and can clarify the situation for me please.

The bearing is separate to the concentric slave, but they are often sold as a single item... An LUK three part kit should include everything. But...
More importantly, are you sure the clutch has actually failed?
The clutch hydraulic comes from the brake reservoir. If the brake fluid drops below minimum then the clutch stops working. This is a deliberate design 'fault' as a brake leak/excessive brake wearwill stop you changing gear just before the brakes actually fail.
If the brake fluid is below minimum, check the brakes before replacing the clutch.

Thank you Doctor Gollum for your reply. The hydraulics have definitely failed as when I pump the clutch pedal I get clutch/brake fluid dripping out of the gearbox. LUK do a kit with a release bearing and a kit with a slave cylinder for my car. From what you say I guess the one with the slave cylinder contains the release bearing as part of the slave cylinder.

Worst case you then have to buy the bearing separately, but I wouldn't worry about that unless you need to ;)

My 94 2.5 did that.
There is a flexi hose with a piece of rigid pipe that screws into the side of the slave cylinder (inside the bell housing). The flexi hose had failed. Can't remember if it was possible to diagnose before I pulled the gearbox.
