Er, I mean, budget...
Almost halving the threshold for Employers NI is a pretty effective way to totally opps over business growth. Which in turn will mean fewer people employed and will cost the State more in welfare whilst also reducing overall productivity and in turn revenue, not only for those businesses, but also the State by way of reduce tax income.
Cue a very slow, sarcastic hand clap.

These people are like football managers. There's a finite amount of them, so they just get recycled between clubs. 'Your last club got relegated but it wasn't your fault? Ok, you'll do'

Which is what HS2 needs to survive until completion of the current route from Brumingham to Wormwood Scrubs (the bit into Euston isn't funded yet). So makes perfect sense to put him there, as he can then tell the government how wonder the pointless vanity project is.
We all know it needs scrapping.

In the news
David Goldstone, who was announced in the Budget as chairman of the Office for Value for Money, will be paid £950 a day for an average commitment of one day a week, the Treasury said yesterday. The compensation amounts to £49,400 over the course of a year - equivalent to a full-time salary of £247,000 and significantly more than Sir Keir Starmer's £166,786 salary.

It's like a merry go round of lucrative jobs for these people. ::)
A couple of years being completely ineffective in one role, so they get shuffled off to another well paid job for a bit, before moving on again.

My sister called it Seagull Management, and the term seems apt.
They swoop in, do an awful lot of squawking, sh1t over everything, before flying off again.
-
Apparently our new champion for value for taxpayers money can't talk about HS2 because of conflict of interests! :o ::) ;D

Crikey, that is bad. It is our( well your money) going down the pan.
Reading today about how the USA will under Trump , supported by Musk ( a man I wouldn’t invite to a dinner party) will cut away the things like consideration of bats, newts, rare habitats and so on so big projects can be done quickly. ( sounds like the Victorian era!)
