Title: Another Year - Another MOT (PASS)
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 30 October 2024, 17:23:06
Only done 92 miles since last years MOT.  Went through no issues.  Brakes impressed me as they have hardly been used, nice balance each side.  The hand brake never gets used as it's an auto.  Operated it a couple of times before the test, when tested the wheels locked and the car came off the rollers.  So very happy. 8) :'(

But there's a down side.  On the way into town the brake light warning came on whilst going over several pot holes.  so had a bite to eat and went on to the local car parts shop where they fit (some of) the parts bought.

Whilst in the boot he found the wheel well for the spare full of water, he made a hole in the bung and drained it out.  but needs looking into.

Also when I turned off the engine to sort the bulb, the check oil level warning came on.  So topped it up 0.5 litre.  Not bad for 12 years use.

2012 45.076 miles
2024 58,276 today.

So 13.2k miles only 0.5 litre oil consumed. Cant complain. :y

So......12 years on and no oil change? I thought oil deteriorated over time even with minimal mileage? Personally, even with that small amount of use, I think for the cost of oil and a filter, I would have done at least a couple of changes :y

At only 95 miles a year, do you go far enough to find out?  ;) Oh, congrats on the pass too.

Bad health this year.

MOT last year.
Used once in May.
Started it Tuesday and took it for a run to charge the battery.and get it washed.
MOT this year.

Has averaged 1000+ miles a year (13K 12 years).  When used I do 40/50 miles a trip and just go for a drive in the country side, very rarely tops 60mph.

Thank you.  Sadly I doubt it will.

The list gets longer and the meds keep getting added to.

However I am in a better condition than I was 15 years ago. I was on 42 tablets a day with different problems, today I manage on a minimum of 8 plus upto an extra 8 pain killers if required. :-\

I just plod on and stay positive. :y

At 63 years of age I cant complain, after a bad accident at the age of 10  I overheard doctors & nurses saying I wouldn't see my 21st birthday. saw my 42nd birthday, then 63rd, now looking towards my 84th, not sure about my 105th :-\

Still here to moan about it, not as much hair, and different body parts keep giving grief.

Sadly my little Lituanian friend that lived in Tenerefe passed away last year at the age 34 so that was a sharp reminder to be carefull and look after myself. :y

sorry about your health issues. its a shame when these get in the way of doing what we want in life but hey ho you have to do what you can when you can.
car wise your omega sounds like my viva. bought it in 1990 with around  45k on and although it is mot tested every year mileage is now only around 53k so only a few miles every year. ( a few oil changes thou but i just checked when the last one was .........2004 at 50k!  )  so i think were related !

Great about the car, but not good about your health Phil! :o :o

As I now know, you have to just keep going and welcome every day, even if it means you rattle as you walk around due to the number of pills being taken!! :-* :-* ;)
