Guys,
While browsing another forum i came accross the following deal:-
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7402481/Trail/searchtext%3ERAC.htm?storeId=10001&referredURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.argos.co.uk%2Fstatic%2FProduct%2FpartNumber%2F7402481%2FTrail%2Fsearchtext%253ERAC.htm&jspStoreDir=argos&referrer=COJUN&cmpid=COJUN which contains the following items:-
2 tonne trolley jack,
pair 2 tonne axle stands,
pair wheel chocks,
mechanics creeper,
oil pan,
oil filter wrench,
magnetic dish,
14in cross wrench with lug sizes 17/19/21/22mm
Is this worth getting - I plan on changing the old myself every 3000 miles which should work out to about twice a year
Cheers

Cant go wrong at that price, as long as it is light use, I would have thought it to be OK :y

looks good most places are £25-30 just for the jack.May look into that if the offer is still on in Oct :y

I would be a bit wary. I bought that kit last year and one of the jacks gave way whilst I was under the car :o.......

The trolley jack turned out to be pants to. gave up the ghost after 4 months of not a lot of use.
I suppose you pays your money and gets the quality. Though the trolley seat looks the business ;)
Go to Machine Mart ( http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/categories/search/garage-equipment ) and get theirs - a little more pennies needed but better than getting in a 'life flashing past your eyes moment'

I have just got the last one in the local Argos, these things aren't great but its only to use on the Mrs's Micra.
Wouldn't trust them under the Meega me thinks - seems Tafty has proved that one!
-
I recall someone had one of these stands collapse - get some decent ones!
-
I wouldn't get under a car with riveted axle stands. OK for steadying the car while changing a wheel (although not really necessary if the jack is any good!) but not if your life's depending on it, IMHO.

Blimey, you really do get what you paid for if that piccy is anything to go by. :o
I never get under a car unless I am guaranteed it won't fall down. I'd much rather pay the extra to get something I know will last and keep me safe, than pick up a bargain to save a few quid.
-
In addition to the stand, I keep a jack raised up to it, and chuck some wheels under there if practical - I don't intend to die yet!
If one falls on you, it's game over...

Had the rac trolley jack about 3 years ago. after about a year of very little use i tried jacking up a focus ,and it came straight back down. In the bin. :(

Well my brother bought me a £9.99 1 tonne trolley jack from Argos for my 13th birthday and I still use it today (11 years on), but I need another one for little jobs on a Micra - I'll give it a shot for £25 with all the other bits.
The omega gets a 3 tonne quick jack and some meaty axle stands, esp as its a TD and has an engine made of lead! ;D

nah cheap! my jack alone was £100 odd
