Title: What to do ....
Post by: HolyCount on 14 September 2008, 16:31:34
For a couple of months now I have been "off colour". At these times I tend to get very lazy (lazier??) and have let the beard grow unchecked ::)

Trouble is -- I looked in the mirror today and Uncle Albert was looking back at me!!!!!

I want to trim it back to my normal goatee type ( but fuller ), SWMBO wants me to keep the full beard!

I've worn a full beard for years now and when I shaved it off for my 40th birthday party (me and a mate went as the Blues Brothers!) everybody commented on how much younger I looked etc etc.

SWMBO just burst into tears :-? What was that all about?

Funny thing hair growth,as a teenager you go around with an unconvincing beard (bumfluff) then as you get older you find unwanted hair sprouting from everywhere.......even my teeth are starting to sport a little designer stubble these days. ;D ;D :y

That doesn't sound particularly pleasant!

I shaved off my goatee a couple of weeks ago, had it for the last 10 years. My other half took a few days to get used to it and now she doesn't mention it.

It's your face Count, so ultimately you should decide whether it has a full beard or not. Besides which if Mrs Count insists on you growing it back again then it shouldn't take too long  ;)

I would recommend a compromise - shave just your cheeks, maintaining a well defined line downwards and across.

Whatever else you do, KEEP THE MOUSTACHE.

A beard without appropriate upper lip coverage is an ABOMINATION.

I speak from experience - I've had my beard since I left school 44 years ago.  Until a few weeks ago, I had quite an impressive handlebar moustache, but I decided that it had to go as I'm currently looking for a job.  I was afraid it might not be taken seriously.  I will obviously need to train my next employer in beard appreciation. :)

Sorry - I cannot abide stubble trying to pass itself off as a beard!

Almost as bad as the current fad for shaven heads.

If the top of my head was open to the elements, I would have the decency to buy myself a wig!  :(

Maybe I should train the beard to grow up there !!!!!

My ex used to complain bitterly when I had stubble, I then announced I was growing a beard to which there was planty of verbal.

Then once I had grown a beard for the 1st time ever I then said I was saving it al  off.  To which I got the comment of, of if you do we are history. :-/ :-/ :-X

Odd...thats exactly what my wife said...only chance i get to "start afresh" with it is when either of us is away somewhere - as long as i have enough time to grow it back!
Only problems i have with mine is if i have to do some work in a Pharamcutical factory - can't be doing with a beard net!  Strangely, you can get away with stubble, but as soon as i start to re-shape the goatee, they start waving the sodding nets at me again..

If you like it, keep it, HC...and for the record, i don't shave me head, but do give it a No.0 (zero) on a regular basis when working on site as it makes life soooooo much easier..and saves on shampoo!!
