Title: ATF Filter
Post by: Steveh on 07 February 2025, 04:12:21
Hi I had a problem with my  1996 2L 16v yesterday Automatic Gearbox on display and it wouldn't go above 5mph think I've fixed it now it was throttle position sensor . It set me thinking of changing ATF and filter. There seems to be different styles of filter one with a pipe that sticks up one without tried putting reg in on a couple of sites both come up. Any ideas how I can find out which one without dropping the pan ?

You'll need 8L of Dex 3, a suitable way to put it in, I used a Garden Sprayer, It's a messy job if done on the drive, for filters and gaskets from here

Thanks a garden sprayer sounds a good idea I'll probably wait for the weather to warm up it seems ok at the moment It was a bit worrying how the knackered TPS effected it I thought gearbox was fried as there a burning clutch smell when I made it home lucky I was only a mile away.
