Title: Omega milestone.
Post by: Migv6 le Frog Fan on 12 February 2025, 10:06:51
On the M11 yesterday going down that London, the old girl passed the 200,000 mile mark.
Still drives pretty much like a new one.  :)

My MV6 2.6 was great. The second best car I have owned. :y

Nice one. They are still a comfortable place to be, whether you're cruising about or pressing on.  :y

Mine is getting cosmetically scruffy now. Recent frost got under the lacquer on the bonnet and front of the roof and caused a lot of peel.
I still love driving it though and dont plan on ever getting rid of it.
Partially inspired by the number of people on here who regret no longer having one.
They are just a great old thing to drive, and minus some of the unnecessary complications of new cars.
When I got my first one - around 18 years ago - I soon had buyers remorse, as it had a most of the standard problems of a neglected Omega.
I searched the internet for answers and found OOF (which had just started up) and soon got the car back to full health, including replacing the autobox.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Downside is I have had to suffer STEMO for all that time.  ;D

They're certainly great cars , really wish I'd kept mine and not bought a Merc to replace it, the Omega was the best value for money car I've ever had. Hope you get many more miles from it Bought my one owner 2.6 in 2010 for £1995 with only 40,000 miles on the clock. I would love to find another as good as it was.

I paid £560 for mine about 8 years ago.
Ive spent quite a lot of money on it since then though, to get it more or less how I want it.
Its never going to be worth paying to have it repainted though, unfortunately.

We still miss most of the Omegas we had, notably Tractor! TBE and the brilliant Silver Bullet.

The Heap (TB1) and Goldie (TB3) were decent enough cars as well, but never really got to love them. Neither were here for that long, mind!

Nice one!  :y :y

I read the other day on a web site there are just 893 Vx Omegas still taxed and MOT'd left on UK roads.  So ours are survivors! :D :D

S'funny but I can relate to that entirely.
Had mine 22 years now , have no use for it , don't actually need it as there are too many other vehicles in the fleet to be sensible but here we are only today eagerly spending several hundred on parts  for it's  NCT ( MOT ) .
It is a great old thing Albs and actually nicer to drive than the new Tiguan with it's ludicrous complexity and the reverse snobbery of driving an attractive old car makes me, and others ,  smile .
I've loved the old thing since I bought it and also  have no plans to let it go , ever . :y

I know I say it a lot, but they really are hard cars to beat for comfortable, effortless mile crunching.
