Title: MOT on the Mazda
Post by: Terbs on 17 February 2025, 13:10:46
Really pleased, took the Mazda in for MOT...passed. That's nine clear passes in a row without any advisories. Mind you, its only done 59000, and most of that is A34, M27 and A31, barely any local, so not much pressure on the joints, I suppose. :)
Can't get the Omega done , as its still in a static state :(

.

Had a Mazda 626 diesel estate from new bought it in 2002 kept it 10 years & never failed an MOT . It was the most economical car that we'd ever owned up till now 46mpg running around & 60+ mpg on a run, got badly damaged rear end when SWMBO was using it so bought  an Omega as our daily.

I had a Mazda 626, the first of the wrong wheel drive ones. it was very well screwed together but parts were hellishly expensive. I finished up running it with used parts. Nice car though.

The Omega needs a new starter motor. Got in touch with James, he said he would do it, but heard nothing since ☹️ I’ll have a crack at it, or my son in law may do it

It's not a difficult job - just fiddly. Access isn't good, but once the offside engine mount is released, the engine can be lifted on that side to greatly improve access to remove  / reinstall it from below.

Yes mate, there is an excellent guide on here. My grandson took off the under panel and removed the lower starter bolt. Problem is, I can't get down under cars now...due to age, and as  someone once said, I look like a golf ball with legs !!!! ::)
