Title: Which oil for V6?
Post by: mong00sehun on 24 February 2025, 13:36:46
Hi guys,

when i dont use the car for 1 or 2 days when i start it, i hear some lifter clicking for around 1 sec, and the lifters go silent.
I always used 10w40 semi-synthetic mobil1 oil. The hungarian omega group said, 5w30 is better for it, maybe prevents clicking too. Should i change?

Either will do.

I used 10w40 in mine as it was cheaper, leaked less and was quieter than the one time I bought 5w30 by mistake. Plus, the other cars I worked on at the time also used 10w40

I have used 10w-40 semi synthetic oil for years for all my Omega's, Carltons and a Senator without problem. :y

I´ve used always 5w40 in my Omegas (2.2 and 3.0) with GM-LL-A-025, GM-LL-B-025 specifications or then Dexos 2. Numbers behind the oil can are as much important as the numbers in front ;)

Yes you’re in Finland so better a 5/40  than a 10/40👍

I use Shell 5-40 and it works very well for the mayonnaise that these cars usually make, it practically doesn't make any and it uses a very good base.
