Title: Heathrow Airport Closed
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 21 March 2025, 07:05:55
Sabotage?  ???

Could this be the work of Vlad, sending Sir Starmer a message to stop rattling his sabres?  :-X

My money is on an electric car charger self combusting. >:D

It's going to screw up a lot of people.

But why was the back up generator also “ disabled”. Surely all major infrastructure has back up power?

My money is on cheap hybrid warfare. The human cost is immense but no lives lost.

They probably decided not to turn on the generator because of the emissions!  ;D

Does that mean I'm allowed to blame the immigrants?  ;)

The backup generator needed to run that lot would be enormous, its some what insanity to think there would be enough sat around to cover it.

I recall when I worked at Alsthom in the 90s we had a couple of Avons which ran as emergency generators and they were not nearly able to supply enough power to run the site (but could do enough to keep some key system working where by if the job was stopped the result would be loads of scrapped material/product). Heathrow's demand just for Terminals 1-3 would be many many times that

But running on minimal supply? Or better still have redundancy built in with an alternative supply? Either way , whatever the cause, hopefully a wake-up call to vital infrastructure.

Gatwick has recently gone all electric for their Airfield and security vehicles... Got a load of VW ID3s on clearance. They've gradually been gearing up their charging points... One got wired backwards and when all the cars where plugged into it, it blew and took out all the ground lighting, including the runway and taxiway lights >:D

Well never a truer word spoken in jest!  ::)   Well kinda anyway.....

Turns out that Heathrow has a bio-mass generator installed for net zero sustainability, because apparently chopping down trees and burning them to produce electricity is environmentally friendly!  :D   Although this is not a back up generator, it provides heat to Terminal 5 and electricity produced is fed to the grid.  :-\

Meanwhile, New York's JFK airport has it's own gas turbine power plant....    :-X

Too many businesses, public buildings factories all think along the lines of " it will never happen" then it does, next is who can we blame ?
