There was a really bad crash involving 11 bikes in yesterday's Super Sport race. The meeting was abandoned and two riders (one 21 and one 29) sadly lost their lives with a third seriously injured still in hospital. Apparently the police have launched an investigation. It is sad that riders lost their lives but it was a motorbike race they were all approaching the first corner and accidents do tend to happen it's a dangerous sport.

I wonder why the police are investigating? ???
I'd have thought it would be something the Health and Safety Executive would do, unless foul play is suspected? :-\

I guess the old bill need to check for and anything criminal
Any motorsport is dangerous, and you normally have to sign a statement that you understand that and that you take responsibility for any incidents. But the venue has to follow certain safety rules as well.

My old landlord in the 80s used to do amateur super bikes, and was pretty good at it, but switched to trial bikes due to every weekend losing a friend at events.

Read a report earlier about this, the speed that they were reported to be travelling at they stood no chance of survival, terrible shame at 21 & 29 years of age, may they Rest in peace.

Par for the course. Our mate died in a racing crash over a decade ago and it was a police investigation.

On the up side, hopefully it brings some peace to their loved ones knowing they died doing what they loved.

I believe the 29 year old had two young nippers. :-\
