Title: Charging a milk float for the first time.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 25 May 2025, 11:48:08
How hard can it be? :)

Plug it in and then come back in a few hours.

Well, I plugged in the MF* and immediately there was a message displayed on the screen of the Octopussy 7.4KW Zappi charger....WAITING FOR SURPLUS.

Absolutely no idea as to the meaning of this message so decided to pull the plug out and then try again, in a few minutes.

But of course, the plug refused to be removed even when repeatedly  pressing the black release button. WTF. :-\

An hour, and two bottles of Stella later I was finally able to release the plug. Presumably it was linked to some sort of timer.

Anyway, it seems I was trying to charge the MF using 'Eco mode' which  I later found runs on power generated by solar panels, recycled tampons, and dead puppies. You know, ECO stuff.........none of which I had to hand.

Eventually I figured out the menu on the Zappi, and using 'fast' the MF charged without any further problems.

PS....MF* in the context of this thread stands for 'Milk float' and not 'mother f*ucker' :)....despite me saying these words many times. >:D

Your first experience of charging an EV sounds very complicated so, based on that I’ve added an EV to my list of ‘Things I’m least likely to own’. I was keen up until reading your post but your bad experience has put me off now.  ::)  ;D

The car itself is great though. :)

Beautifully finished in side and out, and great to drive. You can see where the original price came from.

You used to make poor Mrs Opti drive an elderly Corsa, but now you've bought her a spanking new Jaaag!  :o

What did you do?  ???   >:D

It's better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. I'm very sorry. ::)

She'll decide that saving the world is boring six months from now. :)

Not new, Tigger. Two months old, so a 'used' motor car. Even though it arrived with only 20 miles.  :)

Jaaaag Warranty until March 2028, and an 8 year /100,000 warranty for the PP9, in case it goes tits up. So some peace of mind.

Well I hope it placates Mrs Opti for what you did or didn't do, and you have peace of mind that you are safe from flying laptops.  :)
