Title: Oil Leak around Oil Filter Area, V6, Y26SE
Post by: polilara on 07 June 2025, 15:04:05
So still oil leaking from somewhere. I have canister type filter and both canister and cap is wet in outer bottom side. Cam seals are ok. Canister is not loose so could it be the sealing between it and engine block. What kind of seal there is and does anybody have spare part number. What else it could be? I remember oil cooler pipes are there and also crank sensor. All tips welcome.

Is there any chance the seal ring is not seated, or the filter is on reversed?

Thanks Dave, everything is possible when I am working but now I am looking for spare number of the seal between canister frame and engine block. It is original from 2001, I have owned this car almost from new. You can see the seal below.

Might be GM# 9240161 Opel KAT 56-50-761.

This is what I get too.

It's an O ring but with... Nodules...? ... On it at regular intervals.

IIRC the housing is held with a big allen bolt inside too.

Thanks Enceladus and GastronomicKleptomaniac, that is the one, I remember 10 or 12mm allen. I am afraid rubber is hard as glas after 24 years, I try to find this seal.
