Hi everyone,
My 3.2 manual shudders when I dip the clutch, or blip the throttle, especially prominently between gear shifts. Feels as though engine mounts are worn?
Can anyone recommend if there's any in particular that I should change to rectify this, and have shifting feeling more positive and smooth?
Thanks.

They don't take kindly to rushed shifting. Lift off. Clutch in. Shift. Clutch out. Throttle. 0-60 is sub 7 seconds without trying to rush it. Trying to speed match the shifts just baulks the gearbox. In my experience.
Could be an indication of the DMF beginning to fail.

Or a sticky release bearing. But it's one of those jobs where you should replace the lot.
Be warned though, the last 3.2 flywheel I bought from VX was nearly a grand. The clutch kit itself is relatively cheap and fitting it is an easy couple of hours on a lift.
It is drive way doable but it's a bear to lift it high enoughto get the box out.

Two engine mounts in the bay are accessible with long extensions and a socket.
Worth getting it on a ramp and giving all the transmission mounts a prod and check they're done up tight. Under the box is a big rubber mount that can split, then the mounts under the prop and around the diff, too. Rule that lot out before you start unmantling anything fiddly.

Thanks both.
I'd expect it's still on original engine mounts at 125k miles, so I'm sure that's where the play is coming from. I'll. Have a closer look when I can get it to a ramp.

If the engine mounts separate you'll know the second you throw it through a tight roundabout... You'll literally feel the weight of the engine move. They get destroyed by persistent oil leaks.
