Anyone with kids of a certain age looking for a first car project?
Mate has acquired a 3 door Zetec.
Very tidy body, needs a clean and the bumpers are scuffed. Big issue is a head gasket leak at cylinder 3.
No rust on it.

To add, it's silver and has the 1.4 Duratec lump in it.
It has an MoT until end of Feb 26. Reg is LC03BHV.

Sadly I think you're right, just seems a shame as it has potential to be a decent little car. It's just the time and parts that make unviable as a flip car, but it could serve someone well if they're looking to get a couple of years out of it...

Cost of repair ?
Value when selling it ?
Never going to be worth the bother unfortunately.

You're right re worth it or not from a commercial perspective. But for a longer term prospect that makes it slightly more viable.
That said, there is one, same spec/age with similar mileage on Auto trader for £2,500... It's a way from being that shiny, but it does give pause.

But using that basis of calculation would have put every omega in the scrap yard a decade ago :y.
There's value in a reliable cheap car beyond its cash resale value.

Just trying to find the buyer for it who shares the sentiment...

Eldest son bought a cheap run around 08 plate zetec engined fiesta for £800, just needed a new starter motor. There are bargains out there you just have to be able to get there and test and pay before anyone else. Unfortunately a job like a HG is going to put the vast majority of people off.
