Title: If anyone's Watching this.......
Post by: Danny on 23 September 2008, 13:31:41
Just to let people know, if anyone's watching this,   clicky (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180292547508),  it had its LPG conversion done by the cowboys that destroyed did mine, douglas motors in pemberton, wigan

there's no saying this one's as bad and it might run perfectly but I thought i'd mention it since he had it done about a month after mine and he's decided to sell aswell, cant be just a coincidence can it??

Will be interesting to see what happens to that.

Not sure how you can replace twin cats with a single without doing a huge bodge.

I also note the lack of engine bay piccies!

.. purely because the seller neglected to point out that it doesn't run on gas. ::)

It'll be back.

if it was working properly he'd do a lot more in the advert to try to sell it,  more than just "economical on LPG"

MAAAAAAAJOR selling point if its working!!

Dear flood748,

hi the performance on gas is fine no problems at all, usually get about 180-200 miles on £30 of gas.

15-16.7p. / mile on gas. :-/

He's obviously more heavy footed than I, or it's not so great on gas after all. Mine's costing 12.5p on mixed driving and LPG is a bit more expensive here than Lancashire.

Crikey! That's a manual too, and mine's an auto. :-X

Interestingly, looking at the engine bay photos, I'm sure I can see a hacked-about throttle body coolant pipe. I hope that's not the vapouriser feed. :-X

The sealed valve box on the tank doesn't look too sealed to me either.

they've done the same f*** up that they did with mine (remember its the same company), they've took the coolant feed from the throttle body and ran it all around the world, and the filler cap can be seen just below the back number plate on the close-up shot of the back bumper

at least you could see the injectors on mine (on the 2nd attempt)

What an awful installation!!! No offence meant Danny, but I can't believe they manage to relieve people of their hard earned money for that!! :o :o

It looks like the tank is mounted at the wrong angle too... I'm fairly sure that all multi valves operate at 30 degrees :-/ :-/

And I agree Kevin... 15ppm is horrendous! I usually get around 11ppm on my running about, bearing in mind I do 18 miles each way for work on dual carriageway! In fact I was over the moon at the weekend. I had already done 170 miles from the tank and managed to get to Birmingham (another 175ish miles) and filled up at 53.9ppl costing me about £38. Then went to WIM and back to Birmingham, then home again and filled up at 55.9ppl for about the same. In fact, I think I'm halfway to break even on my conversion now... I'm pretty sure it'll have payed for itself by Christmas :y :y

none taken, i've learnt my lesson and tragically because i failed to keep records of my return visits to them i had no legal case, but it still upsets me that they're still taking loads of money off people and still butchering cars. there's no way that one's running as nice as it would on petrol...

and for a manual, he should expect to get that mileage off £30 of petrol let alone gas!!!
