Hi Guys,
I am not trying to start the comparison debate between pattern / Gen exhausts (as it's been done to death) - but I AM trying to do a little survey, so would appreciate a moment of your time :y
I am just interested to hear from Omega V6 owners with pattern exhausts on your cars. How do you find it - is it loud, tinny, has economy or performance dropped, was it poorly fitting, or on the flipside - do you find it OK?
Personally speaking, I have had pattern exhausts on 2.0 models that sounded AWFUL (TB will confirm ;D ) - yet I've had a pattern one on a 2.5 that really wasn't bad (apart from the fact it didn't seem to last too long).
If you can shed an opinion on this - please answer the above and share if possible,

its a patten part
got it from mutant cav didnt have money for vauxhall one
sounds terrible
very tinny and dont fit to well
the original was a gm part and it was guieter than this one untill the center box fell off lol

i know, you could have got a VX one and got change.....and it would have lasted longer :y

I've got no idea what's on mine, because I haven't had to change it. I'm inclined to think it's still the original, as the bloke I bought it from didn't say that he'd replaced it, and he'd had it for 3 years.
Is that likely?

5 years and still going strong.
Stainless steel one made to measure.
My dad had it fitted when he owned the car, he asked for it to be quiet, but there is quite a nice little growl from it when you open it up.
The only mistake I think he made with it is it has a round tail pipe, and I still prefer the oval tail pipe look.

My original GM back box fell apart but the middle sections still appeared to have a good couple of years left in them so I just replaced the back with the cheapest item on Ebay at the time (£38 delivered from Eternalcar – Germany).
I assumed that when the middle sections finally fail, the pattern back box would also be on its way out and so I would then spring for a full GM system. That was one and a half years ago now and the pattern part still looks fine. It also fitted well and sounds OK.

Two original ones, quiet and easy to fit seem to be lasting well
One (expensive) pattern one, internals collapsed (note the warranty only covered anti performation!) within 18 months, noisey and a very poor fit.

Project TB1 had a pattern. No idea of cost, but it sounded bloody awful - like a farty 4 pot on full bore.

Quite possibly The oldest original Meega system I have heard about is seven years :y

Pattern.
Came with the car. Could look for receipt.
Been on 2-3 years.
It's not great, but OK. At least until it gets really warm. Then it gets really boomy, friggin annoying! If the car wasn't so old I would rip it off and pay for a new MV6 system just to get rid of the boominess. >:(

6 years seems par for the course for the original GM system - pretty good really :y. (whether the replacement ones you get on TC will last the same is another matter :-/)
My experience
4 pot , pattern (from local indie tyre place), lasted at least 2 years (sold car), sounded a bit throaty, cost £160.
V6 , Kwik fit, sounded perfectly fine, lasted exactly 4 years, cost £240
no complaints
actually after replacing it and being curious I unzipped that one with an angle grinder. It appeared to be double skin which was in good nick, it was the end plates of the boxes and the pipe close by that had failed. However the internal perforated pipe in all three boxes just fell out as a pile of rust!

changed the section after the cats with the original , no problem..
changed the cats with another similiar flow silencers (non GM) , awful noise , too many problems..

3ltr MV6 (mini-facelift) - PowerFlow cat back stainless steel, £400, been on 4 years and no problems, went for a medium noise system, sounds fine.
2.5 CDX (facelift)- Kwick Fit pattern parts, £200 (because i argued as they pissed me about, should have been £240) noisier than GM one on there, and appears to be a bit short (tail pipe doesn't come past bumper) been on 3 1/2 years, of so far

Lasted longer than what? :-/ It's still on the car in the same condition it was as when I put it on. :y

original exhaust downpipe and cat on recently retired 1994mig. 351000+miles. bosal branded middle and back only manage about 70000ish miles

tractors seem to be less harsh on exhausts than petrols.
