Title: Admiral Multi-car Insurance
Post by: Andy B on 25 September 2008, 10:04:29
Has anyone had any experience of this, good or bad? On the face of it, it looks good in that they'll cover my Omega for around £250, against other companies quotes that seem to be around £400, as part of a multi-car policy covering 3 cars.
A down side that's obvious is that next year all 3 car's insurances will require renewal at the same time & Admiral's charges deter you from paying monthly.
TIA

I went through every option on insurance and got told a load of crud.

Went with Admiral MC.  I have 2 x V6 Miggys a 3.0 Elite and a 2,5 GLS.

All other companies were wanting £370 ish for the Elite alone.  I got the pair for £250 + £220 £470

Discount is achieved in a few ways one of the biggest is paying up front.

If you read into the policy I belive you can start the AMC policy with 1 car and add to it, allthough they may add an admin fee.  So with 3 cars the may be a chance to stagger it.

Onlt down side I can see immediatelt is they use RAC windsreens.  (Check/search for EAC for a post by Marks DTM)(seems the RAC fit naff Omega screens)

Give them a ring and sound them out and put all your concerns to them.  The guy I dealt with was brilliant.

They would stagger it to start off. Omega would start in a couple of weeks, SWMBO's Astra in Jan & my Astra shed in Feb.
:-/Just thought .... I'll have to ask re NCD in respect of the part years cover.

Might try them "Admiral" as have 2 Omegas what i do at the moment is use one for a while cash in the remainder of road tax then tax other car & switch insurance over i have always got quote on the 2.0CD then switched over to 3litre cost under £30 for the remainder of policy approx 6-7mths PLUS the £10 admin fee (thats cheap some want £25 +) last time i checked Zurich insurance will trsfr it free !
I know one cars not insured but got big drive its a couple of locks on it & often no battery ::) ... :y

after reading this post i tried admiral multicar for a qoute,
im not sure if they are cheap or dear
they qouted the following
3.0 miggy £393 and rover 414 £397 with me as sole user on both and only occasional user on rover
i was kind of expecting the rover to be dirt cheap , not dearer than the miggy so in that way dear
however the cheapest qoute i have had for just the miggy is £580 with admiral
fully comp im over 30 and have 5 years no claims

I use that policy to cover my 2.

Never had to make a claim, so no idea how good they are though.

We are both with Bell (and Admiral company) (seperately) and pay a combined £550 for 2 mv6 estates.

just done a multicar quote and its come out at : £510, up to £530 which i think is now like for like.

So a little cheaper :)

I went with them as they could do BOTH my Omegas for the same price as NU wanted just for the MV6

Down side, as i expected, the renewal came through the door couple of days ago and the cost has gone up considerably, can get it cheaper elsewhere, so feel a call coming on to see if they will knock it down before i renew  :)

Bit of background, the MV6 is on 20K full business use and the CDX is on 6K limited millage policy, the pair come in at £677, i have never claimed since i had my first policy at the age of 17, and no points or convictions in last 5 years. Splits up at £349 and £286, but does include FREE windscreen cover

We have a multi-car policy with Footman James, although they are specialist insurers for classic and kit cars. We have the Cav, 2 Morris Minors and a proper Beetle on 1 policy. Fully comp with glass cover, breakdown cover (UK and Europe) and free courtesy car (fault or non-fault) for just over £330. :y

I have just made a claim with Admiral, someone reversed into me destroying lights and bumper. Car was written off. The people at Admiral are pretty good/helpful but the legal people they use (Albany assistance) have not been good at all. Very slow lots of duplicate letters and forms and terrible for promised call backs... this happened 30th of July and it is still rumbling on, although the other party have excepted liability. They did give me a good hire car though. ::) they canceled my insurance after the accident, as expected, but when I called to re-quote it was £40 more expensive than when I took the original insurance out in July this year. I ended up with Privilage £203 protected. I used the Tesco compare webby.. :y

[/highlight] Thats what always happens with a write off apparently. They cancelled it and credited me for the difference. :)
