Title: Paul Newman
Post by: Lizzie_Zoom on 27 September 2008, 15:09:40
Very sad news has just been released; Paul Newman has died from cancer at the age of 83 :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

A great actor, director and wonderful man :-* :-* :-* :-* who not only appeared in many successful films such as Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, Cool Hand Luke , The Sting and Color of Money but he was a very keen motor racing driver! :y :y :y

He also raised millions for charity! 8-) 8-) 8-)

He will I am sure be missed by many, many people! :'( :'( :'(

Good bye Paul! :( :( :( :(

The Hustler is one of my all-time favourite films!

"when it's just right, i feel i got oil in my arm kid...." 8-) 8-)

coolest film of all time ever

as you say he raised  100's of MILLIONS through his Own Sauce - all of it goes to charity

great guy - one of a handful of genuine hollywood icons/legends

really sorry to hear he's passed - think i'll have a beer and watch the hustler again  :(

Will be sadly missed -- the Greats are all going -- as the saying goes, "They don't make them like that anymore".

Sad news.
I always liked paul Newman as an actor ,he seemed to act with out any apparent effort....always the sign of a great actor.
Loved Cool hand luke made in 1967(I think).
Also liked him in the blockbuster The Towering Inferno....plenty of big names in that film....Steve McQueen...Fred Astaire...William Holden..Robert Wagner....plus the edible Faye Dunaway.
I think to say that women found him attractive is something of an understatement.
Perhaps more important is that I think as well as being a great actor .....he was a well liked decent human being. :y :y :y

I always liked the quote from Paul Newman when someone asked him why he'd been married so long and wasn't he tempted to play around .

"Why go out for hamburger when you can have steak at home"

I think he was married for about 50 years to Joanne Woodward.

Don't forget his range of sauces,
Newman's Own :)

sharing the same surname as the legend Paul, I liked the idea of a sauce with my name on so tried them out once. Two Thousand island and Ranch are my faves but they are awesome !

as are the films, the Sting an Sundance Kid being my top of his work. ah rip mr newman.  8-)

Read this today as well, great shame. Loved his movies as a kid. He had that natural something about him which made him cool. Sad loss indeed but 83 good years is as much as we could wish for ourselves or anyone.
Apparently he swore by an ice water wash every morning? :-/ 8-)
