Title: Irmscher Steering Wheels - Bit of Usefull Info
Post by: Phil on 09 October 2008, 13:02:09
As we all know the Irmscher steering wheels (part carbon/ wood/ silver and leather) are £480ish new.

I was after a carbon effect/ leather version for my MV6, after coming up against a brick wall i decided to go a bit left field.

Having owned a Vectra B the Omega B wheel looked very similar.

The Vectra B GSi was fitted with the carbon/ leather wheel (as standard i think).

So after a bit of hunting around Vectra forums i found a post for a GSi being broken, so took a punt on the wheel at a very cheap price (less than 1/5th the new cost!!).

It arrived with an air bag cover and radio controls.

The Vectra B wheel is a straight swap.   :)

Also if you get a wheel not made for the radio controls they WILL fit if you use the air bag cover from a wheel with controls, you just need to cut the 'lugs' off the controls, and maybe a bit of double sided tape on the side of the air bag box, but this is not essential.

Whats the point of this info you say.

Well wheels from scrapped Vectras are far more common and far cheaper than ones for an Omega, now i have mine i thought it would be nice to share   :)

yes Vectra B's wheel is the same as miggys

GSi Vectra had the Irmscher Alloy effect wheel as standard from 1999 on
