Title: Just sold Jaguar using Ebay
Post by: Dusty on 09 October 2008, 20:49:53
My Jaguar X Type 3.0 SE has now been sold using Ebay.

It was offered to you lot here at OOF but with no takers :D ;D ;D

With Ebay you can always get timewasters, but on this occassion we had the perfect Ebayer.

The total cost of the car was £2750, not as much as I had hoped for, but, there is a credit crunch.

We asked the buyer to pay a £100 deposit through Paypal, but when I looked at the invoice, we noticed he had paid the full £2750 through Paypal.

We were not happy with this as we would incur Paypal costs of £93.70, we emailed the buyer who said no problem, I'll reimburse you when I pick the car up so you won't be out of pocket.......and that's exactly what he did.

He drove away thrilled with his new car, and now Mr Dusty and I  ;), are £2750 to the good.

Overall I was amazed that this fella took us completely on trust. He did not email us about the car. He did not have a test drive or see it, and yet paid the full amount into our account. It was a very good car, but he did'nt know that.

We could have run off with his money, and he would have been non the wiser.

Oh well all is well that ends well. :-* :-* :-*

Result :y It's good when you are trusted & it's a shame there isn't more out there the same as you. Just a minority gives the majority a bad name :(

You are probably right .. but someone paying close on 3 grand up front without even seeing the car, then just driving away ??

Doesn't ring true to me .. I'm probably doing the guy an injustice .. but it wouldn't take much to reverse the transaction as an "error" and you are left with no car and no money .. :(

Money has already been moved. But I must say that I think he was genuine. He was an elderly gentleman, of the old school. :-* :-*

Always best to see the good in people if possible unless we have reason to believe otherwise. :y :y
