Title: Will definitely offend. FOOTBALL.
Post by: amigov6 on 09 October 2008, 21:19:42
As a kid in the 60's/70's i supported Chelsea, loved the game & remember the class players from all teams, or some at least but the game had passion.
Now,,,,,oh dear, full of divas & divers & players on every English team who plainly are'nt English, god knows where they're from but they make up most team line ups.
Our world cup squad is made up of the same mix of talented players who are'nt used to playing as a team so collectively produce less than they could. I'm not racist, i hate plenty of white folk!!! but the game's not what it was, full of overpaid dancers. >:(

It's no wonder England can't put together a decent national squad when 80% of the players in the premiership aren't English

N ot sure of the exact figure ,but about 65% of all players in the premier league are foreign.....and the number is going up every year.

Within 20 years or so the England team will be made up completely from the lower leagues...... :-/ :-/ :y

I know nothing about football and dont really support any team at all (but if i did it would be the Mighty Stoke ;)) but a while ago I was sitting at work listening to the lads on about footy and i said "Well if Man United are such a good team, why dont they play as the England side then? I mean they all play together week in week out, used to how each other play, surely they would make a great England Team!" my question was a fair point I thought.....
You can imagine what replies I got but they were along the same lines as your point Guy ::)

It's not just the football though:

Alan Lamb, Robin Smith and Kevin Pieterson all South Africans that were adopted to get them playing for the English team.

Greg Rusedski, born in Montreal Canada and adopted British Citizenship.

Riki Flutey, Inside Centre for the the England Rugby team - born in New Zealand.

Football is becoming a bit of a joke though, just look at what is happening at Newcastle. But then there are sides like Hull who actually bring things down to earth a bit. More of a traditional football club without vast sums of money but still more than capable of holding their own.
