Title: Boot Protectors
Post by: Jimbob on 02 December 2006, 09:08:44
Anyone tried the fitted boot protectors off ebay?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Omega-Estate-94-01-BOOT-MAT-LINER-R101112_W0QQitemZ200052254321QQihZ010QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Look a bit nicer than the cannon cut to fit ones.

Are they any good?

I'm tempted for £30, keeping muddy buggies off the carpet etc.

Cheers

I was thinking of getting one aswell.

If you decide to get one, can you let me know how good they are.

I bought an off-cut of carpet from the local market, almost matches the trim, for £2.

My last solution in the mazda was 2 of those clear plastic 'hall runners' cut to shape.
Was never great though, but kept the boot quite clean.

Yeah you get one Jimbob & let us know how they fit!  ::) I've been looking at them  8-)

I've been using one I took out of my old - (2001) - mondeo estate when I got rid of, it was almost right shape, & did a damn good job of keeping the spills & worse off the carpet.

Easy to take out & hose off too!

Cheers, John

I bought a boot liner from Halfords about 4/5 years ago.....its cloth/slightly padded on the top and rubber/plastic on the underneath.......bought for mainly when my dog was a pup, in case she had an 'accident' on route. Its machine washable as well. Tho ive never washed it, as she never did have an 'accident'. Was about £30 iirc.

I could do with one as well, might be worth getting intouch and seeing if a group discount is possible :)

Yeh,
i have the properly moulded one with raised edges in my estate. Really good if you are going to the tip etc as you can just lift it out and hose it.
On the other hand it is hopeless for the dog as he slides all over so i still end up putting and off cut of carpet in for him to lie on.

Can't argue with that.
Tis an Old car with a dirty boot.

But.

When you are putting wet muddy buggies and stuff in and out, you soon have a wet smelly car :(

Ordered one of these, will report back on fit with a photo or 2.

Hi Guys

I decided to go for the Cannon rubber one from hal***ds. Comes in a box marked type 2. It fits almost perfect in the estate, length almost spot on, about 20 mm to wide, it does come up a bit short on one side were the wheel arch is smaller on one side leaves a gap about 100mm square. but other than that fine. :y

It can be trimmed if required.

I think the advantage with this type is, if you want to get to the spare, you dont have to clear everything out of the boot as you can just fold it back. And its non slip.

And it can be rolled up for storage.

Hal***ds let me take it out to try the fit. I'm happy with it. :y

Anyone tried one for the saloon, my car is missing its carpet at the moment as I had a nasty spillage in the back had it hung over the washing line for a little bit to dry out.

Got the cannon in the wife's saloon.

Read into the fact I am looking at a different solution for mine what you like ;)

It's Ok at best, does the job, but could fit better

Isn't that a bit heavy and difficult to aim? ;D

Boot liner arrived after 10 days.

Quite a good fit, except it is not designed for an omega with a factory fit autochanger, so slight modification (Stanley Knife) required.
Not quite as 'heavy duty' as I hoped, but it's OK.
The lip all around may be an issue if the seats are down for a large load, probably better in the saloon.
The edges are quite 'shiny' so slippy, the centre is a sort of non slip mat effort.

Will try and get out with the camera at the weekend.

Sounds like they are shaped to miss the CD changer which hides in an extension to the drivers-side wheel arch

On balance though, are you recomending it?
