I left my coat on a train the other day, and I am sure my wheel locking key was in the pocket following recent use.
So, looks like I've lost the beggar.
Any tips for getting the locking studs out? It's the VX/Renault star type key. I have the box the studs came in... :-/
-
BR lost property equivalent?
Is there a key number on the packet?

Seen a few keys on ebay with the same pattern as mine - what's the chances of getting lucky?
-
And yep - there is a number on the box....

If theres a number on the box, take it to VXL with V5 and some I.D. and they will get you a new one for £28ish
Its what i had to do couple of months ago :)

Just checked, that is a part number, not a key number.

Thanks (I think) ;D
Unfortunately no key numbers on the box. Although there is a card with a "security number" on it, in the boot - wonder if that's it...... (Not a carpass)...
All the wheel stud kits I see on fleabay for vauxhall have the same pattern as mine - are they likely to be different?
-

I think thats the part number......so you need the number of the plastic inside the box :y

The only number stamped in the box is a "2"...

So thats the sort of number you need :y

Also says on the placcy insert.......replacement keys can be provided by vx dealer......but only if this number is quoted :y

I've a spare key here - well set actually - only very slightly bent, but no idea of it's number. So what's that; one chance in n ?
Anyway you're more than welcome to try it, but (if there's no time pressure) could you post a photo of your nuts (Mmm, that doesn't read good does it) so I can compare (gisa look) and see if the odds will improve.
- Older type with three prongs on the key (mine has two about the same depth, one quiet different).

Sorry wasnt clear there :-[
You should have a plastic insert inside the box.....that says in many languages 'key code' :y

One way to do it is to hammer a tight fitting multi splined socket (preferbly an old one) over the locking wheel bolt and use a ratchet to undo, usualy works for me... dont forget you will need new locking wheel bolts to replace ones taken off. Good luck. :y

That does not work if you have the 'flower' shaped newer locking nut because the spinning metal ring is far too thick.
This is an option:-
Proper locking wheen nut remover (http://www.lockingwheelnutremover.co.uk/indexEnglish.html)
BUT its about £150
James
There should be a piece of card about 3" square with a sticker on it with 4 numbers (IIRC) this is the locking nut key number, this is what you need to get replacements, BUT if you don't have the V5 when you go to the dealer they WILL NOT sell you a replacement.

Yes. Thats the idea of a key, to have lots of possibilities.
You need key number, else they need to be removed via other methods.
-
the dealers do have a master set
about 25 differerent keys in a little suitcase
try again
