For 2 weeks now I have had a rubbish service, ended up going PAYG with UKONLINE, I have had probably 2 usable sessions with Onetel in the last two weeks. They say it's the line (not - ie ukonline), gain (not as ISDN), and they waffle on about talktalk whatever that is.
So if things start to disappear don't worry, it is my rubbish ISP!

Sorry your having probs Martin :(
Talktalk is Carfonewarehouse landline service ;)

With "free" internet.
Define "free"? (I think ASA have told them to stop that particular claim)

27/12/2006 however limited to 1mbps.
Been running at 128kbps on dialup!!!!
Tried the Modem, Onetel works but is too slow!
Asked for a rebate and to pay my phone bill (luckily work picks this up!)
I am a bit worried that contention ect will drag BB to below 2xISDN levels!

Yes it was costing work nearly £100 a quarter but they did want me to be able to access the office (direct dial up) beleive it or not we got Broadband in a village where work is before Worcester - I've had ISDN over 4 years.
Now use Netsupport over the internet.

ANyway just spent 28- +VAT accessing here - see you later

If it helps, my Zen line (the line that this forum runs from) gives a good 2Mbps download speed, and good upload when its not hammered by you buggers browsing this place :P - its an old style fixed 2Mb line.
My BT Business Broadband line is a MaxDSL 8Mb. Evening download speeds drop as low as 1 - 2Mbps but rise to 5+Mbps in middle of night. Uploads are better (Max line has 448k upload).
So, yes, you will see contention at peak times, but should still be way, way faster than bonded ISDN.

Been on a couple of times before work and haven't noticed it being slow
-
i ventured on a certain telecoms outfit for a while i could not get any sense out of the fault line staff. when they finally wanted to sort it out/understand me they charged me £88 to to have an engineer out to repair their fault, needless to say they apologised about not telling me i would be charged but did not offer me a refund- so came off of them like a shot.
now a bt hubber.
-
Well I'll be with BT soon!
They better be good
BTW full 40GB download ect ect is cheaper than my ISDN line rental

Runs fast for me first thing in the morning TD.

Nothing outrageous going on that line at that time TD - just a check for AV updates and MS Patches (and a mirror sync if there are) between 5 and 6am...
-
Phoned up the w*****ks tonight and cancelled - well downgrade to PAYG and crap card connection.
Told them due to their poor service I'm off to BT!
I would like to confirm for that Onetel do not support ISDN so you will not be able to get Dial Up with this type of line. I am very sorry for any confusion and inconvenience caused.
Currently on go faster PAYG Ukonline at 128kbps
-
Good luck with BT martin. I've had no probs :y

I think it maybe me.....well not me....but the pishing filter check.....it sometimes goes for quite a while at the bottom of the browser before display the pages.....ive turned it off to see if it makes a difference....btw anyone know what the difference is between disable pishing filter and turn off automatic checking?? Sounds the same thing to me! :-/

Get onto ADSL :y
The only good thing for ISDN as i can see, is the speed of connecting, but not relevant on ADSL, as always on.
We have a 'ringback' system that uses ISDN (used to use analogue lines, but was too slow!) lines to call the customers to tell them their car is waiting outside....i can hit the button in my car to give them a ring...1 or 2 secs later...i have a message sent back to me saying 'customer phoned' :y Lot faster than the 30 or even more secs it used to take on analogue.

Aren't taxis posh in Swindon.

They have a similar system up here, but its instantaneous. Its called a car horn :D
