I was recalling how many Petrol Stations we had within a two mile radius earlier. We had seven & now we only 1. Quite ironic really, because the traffics increased, but the stations decrease. We can't blame it on Supermarkets were i live either, because ours doesn't sell Petrol >:( (yeh, spend £50.00 or more & get 5p off every litre, but only if i travel 9 miles & nine miles back).
So now we have no competion & charge what they like >:( >:( >:(
So you're all saying how it's gone below £1.00 a litre, but NOT were i live >:( >:(
Arh well, i guess it comes with living in Gonksville :-[ :-[
Anyway, back to my question. How many have you lost?
-
From the bed sit I used to have pre marriage to other side of work
I can think of 7
-
Only 1 has closed in recent years and has now become a van sales forecourt. We still have another 4 in our town which is quite sufficient. ;)
-
We've had two close by us which leaves three & two of them just happen to be new supermarkets....
-
Since i have been driving (nearly 19 years) none have shut down.
Within a 5 mile radius i have the choice of:-
Tesco
Sainsbury
Morrissons
Esso X2
BP X2
Gulf (or something similar)
Texaco
Tescos Express (used to be Esso so guess 'technically' it did close)
Asda
Oddly enough, only 10 miles form Shell Haven oil refinery (now sold on iirc) at Cortyon but no Shell garages anywhere near!!
-
there is 6 within a 5min journey for me. not rather cheap either being by heathrow still 106 a litre

Same here, walked past a BP station last night & it was 105.9. W!"£*&^rs
-
in the lasy few years, 2 within 2 miles have gone, spread the radius between home and work, and can think of another 3 easy enough.
My worry is if there is another petrol shortage...stocks 'in the ground' are now much smaller than they were, it would hit harder and faster next time around :(
-
I've got a Tesco and Sainsburys within 1 1/2 miles but they are charging 104.9 ltr the thieving bar%@ards so I now drive 5 miles to the nearest Morrisons, do my shopping and then fill up. Tesco and Sainsburys can go run and jump. >:(
-
2 on way to work!
And LPG but expensive
In and near Worcester I can think of
13 open 3 are supermarket
7 I can think of which have closed recently
-
No stations closed around here.
Try Petrolprices.com
BP in Woking 99.9p
-
Morrisons are down to 97.9 :)
-
From J1 M18 going 2 roundabouts towards Rotherham we had a total off 6 petol stations over the years. We now have just a Morriosons, Tesco and a Esso Petrol Station. Plus with in easy reach there are 2 more stations. To be fair there were too many. :-/
-
about 8 have closed round my area over the years
-
In the eight years I have lived here I cannot think of one that has closed down, although LSG may correct me! 8-)
Indeed, with a greatly expanding town it is quiet the opposite with many private( Shell, BP , Murco , Esso at least) two Tesco and one Sainsbury's filling stations all thriving outwardly! :y
-
In 22 years since I started driving, within 2 miles of where I live 3 have closed but 1 has been added (Tesco). Still got 5 to choose from.
Pubs are another story, every other one seems to have a board outside saying "Business opportunity"
::)

In our area we have lost two petrol stations, however the one that is left ramped their prices up once the second one closed.....
LPG we have lost 5 in 3 years, we have 1 in Plymouth who is charging 61.9p :o :o
i use autogas they charge 53.9, the only other LPG station in the area has a permanently faulty pump >:(

I thought the stations round here were dear! :o
.. and my local also seems to have a permanently dodgy pump. Last 2 times I've gone to fill up it has been closed. At least tonight there was a bloke working on it so maybe it'll be fixed tomorrow. Before that it filled at a snail's pace. In normal circumstances with a decent pump and a 4 hole tank and it doesn't touch the sides. ;D

Only one and that was about 15 years ago, poss more, was an ICI station, or kangaroo petrol, as described locally. :)
