Going on the blurb on Wiki and Merc's webshite the Aventgard is the "sports" model , where as the "Sport" is a base model but low, and the AMG is well... mental - then there is classic thats very basic and the Elegance which is TBH - break knows!

Yeah the spec names make no sense at all...
Been looking threw the paper work with mine, seems the leather was ment to be there but the 1st owner opted for "Dynamic Sports pack blah blah blah" so it got wider wheels, lower and much hard supsion and sport styled cloth seats... been looking on ebay for leather sports seats, all I can find like my cloth ones is leather from a AMG and Im not spending £700 on a set of seats :)

Thanks mate,
Dont worry, I'll be stopping :)

Nice big lump of machinery there Jon, and don't let anyone tell you that Merc parts are expensive, they aren't. Oil filter about £3 IIRC. Even dealer parts are reasonable. The taxi firm I used to work for has a fleet of 208 cars, approx 50% are Mercs, if the taxi trade runs them then they are up to the job and easy to keep on the road, my mates E250 Diesel had 600,000 on when he gave it to his son to tow his pikey wagon with.

I thought the model range went like this
Classic - Basic, keep fit windows cloth interior and not a lot of options
Sport - sports seats and fancy wheels along with a carbon fibre (ish) dasj and console inset
Elegance - CD/CDX level spec, lots of options that could practically take it to top of the range
Avenguard - top of the range but still had lots of available options to make it really special.
AMG - yeah, that was nutter spec and silly price
Nice car thought mate, silver not my colour but i appreciate that as a car they do have a lot of appeal, keep an eye on the rust thought MB were not the best at rust prevention at that sort of time, especially wheel arches, round the boot lock and around the grille :y
