Title: OOF Number plates
Post by: Gwilym on 15 December 2006, 16:14:42
Just ordered these from

www.demonplates.com

(http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/5218/g5eaomne7m1l008s4nia815ny5.png) (http://imageshack.us)

Well not with my name on but with my reg on

Cost about £33 (cos i got a fixing kit aswell)

After I placed the order I got an email saying if I phone within 7 days I can get another set (different reg if I want) for half price

I reckon you should get together in pairs and order one set through the web, wait for the email to come through then phone your partners order through. 2 sets for around £50 (less without fixing kit). I reckon that isn't too bad a deal.

You can get very cheap ones if you don't have the 3d text or the uk badge options.

I don't see why a black border would be illegal  ;D

Yes. As long as you have the standard font and correct colour it is legal. Border and country badge can be as you like

I've been meaning to ask, my plats have the EU logo one it (ring of stars). Question is if you have that on your number plate, or say the GB flag, do you still need to have one of those oval GB stickers on the boot when driving abroad?

Correct, as far as I am aware.

It falls down, however, if you have a St Georges/St Andrews or Dragon or similar instead.  They are not strictly EU legal but again, from a GB enforcing practitioners viewpoint, not worth bothering about.  There are much larger fish to fry.

But I would (and do) put a GB sticker on when on hols, in case an overenthousiastic Gendarme sees the matter differently.

I always tape up a GB sticker in rear window (so it doesn't damage bodywork)

Or you can smear vaseline where you want the sticker, and just stick it on that, will easy peel off then.
