Title: Day LookIng At Cars
Post by: Bailes on 26 October 2008, 18:42:54
Left 10 this morning to get to cardiff for 11 to see an Omega Elite 2.5 V6 Auto. 1996 Model. Loads of features etc, built well and sounded really nice but the guy told us he changed the oil last 2 years ago and it's been doing nearly 1k a DAY since. Mmm...?  Walked away from that one.

Then back to Bridgend to see a 2.5 V6 CDX Manual, very very nice car, 89k drivers seat a bit worn, exhaust blowing a tad, went well but the MPG really put my cousin off.

Then couple of miles down the road we went to see a 2.5 TD CDX Manual. Everything was SUPERB to be honest, might be needing a new clutch and rear tyres though but we noticed that the Milages with he MOT and services just didnt match up :(
Last MOT it had 102k on it, that was 8th August, service 2 weeks ago it had done 94k! Eh? We just walked off but my cousin liked it allot. So were looking for a similar model to that. So not a very good day as the car we liked, well somthing wasent right.

We then went to see a Volvo 850 GLX 20v. Very very nice car indeed but he couldn't get his hand around the old bloke image so it was out :(

So if anyone knows of a 2.5TD CDX for sale let me know but not willing to travel more than 50 miles really :)

Good luck with your 2.5 TD hunt.

South Wales, and it has to be the 2.5 Lump... I believe the Elite would be a 2.2DTi?

The model makes little difference to engine.  2.5TD BMW lump fitted (on UK cars) to about 2001, then replaced with 2.2DTi

I can assure you mine is the 2.5TD BMW lump - I am very intimate with its internals ;D

Do not cast the 2.2DTi aside, its actually not a bad engine.  And do not for one second think that because the 2.5TD engine is BMW that its actually any good - its not the worlds strongest engine, and has its equal (more than its fair share?) of stupid design issues!

No it's not that it's just we all agreed because I want a bigish car whatever my cousin gets now will be my first. Now the 2.2DTi for some reason is much more to insure than the 2.5TD? :( Otherwise the 2.2 would be great cause I could have a facelift.

The 2.2DTi is more powerful, and newer, both affecting insurance.

I know of a nice red 2.5 (not TD) Elite supermiggy.., for sale but only available to a person that appreciates super rare 18" wheels, custom exhaust and under 65K miles.

WARNING: ANY PROSPECTIVE BUYER WILL HAVE TO FIGHT TB OFF ONCE HE REALISES IT HAS BLUE SIDE LIGHTS, I AM TOLD THAT'S A REAL TURN ON FOR HIM.

Oo-er...! The Supermiggy is for sale so soon?

Still, I have to say that it would suit a young lad quite well too. Nice looking motor...

Pics here for those that haven't been following the tale of the Supermiggy.

I do love it and its such a one off with the tyres/exhaust but well, silly to keep it when we are trying to get a business going lol.  So head has to rule over heart boo hoo lol. But only for the right price and to someone who will appreciate it which is very uncommercial lolol.
