Post by: fatboyfat on 28 October 2008, 14:36:02
is it just me but has anyone had that flash of panic when you've left your car in drive and gone into shop and come out not noticed and gone to start and get that flash of "oh sh*te why won't it start"

it might be just me,let me know if i'm a dingus,it's important for my self esteem ;D ;D

If the little yellow switch by the selector jams, then technically the car can be started & stopped in any gear.

That's interesting cos mine obviously doesn't do that.
So appears it is just me then. :-[ :-[ :-[

As said, there is a little yellow switch on the selector, just pull the gaitor up and you will see it, its that which has probably broken or jammed on yours.

I had the opposite problem. The little switch jammed on and I couldn't pull the keys out until I disconnected the interlock solenoid.

If you mend it now, the change will probably drive you nuts!

Mine has always been like it, so doesnt bother me.

Does it allow you to turn back the key whilst still in gear?

It won't allow you to turn it right back to the point where the key will come out. You can turn it back to the "steering unlocked" position though.

That's different from being able to start your car in gear. The yellow tab just allows you to be able to move the selector irespective of whether the ignition is on.

It's quite hard holding a Senator from driving away when you've bridged the starter from under the bonnet & it's been left in D ........ apparently!  ::)  ::)  :y  :y  :y  :y
