Title: Two links; one of them must be lying...which one?

The threat to Britain posed by declining oil production is greater than that of terrorism, an industry group has said.

The Peak Oil group warned in a report that the country could begin feeling the effects of a severe lack of oil within five years, as oil-producing countries will be forced to wind down production due to diminished reserves.

Jeremy Leggett, the chairman of the Peak Oil Group and the executive chairman of the alternative energy company Solarcentury, said there was still time for the Government to act to protect the country from the impact of reduced oil supplies by reducing the economy's dependence on the fuel, blah, blah.

Oil supplies will actually last for far longer than our politicians think, the scaremongers fear, and the oil companies tell us. So says Dr Richard Pike, head of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and someone who isn’t afraid to stir controversy.

Oh, and in case you wondered, it was a slip of my hand which highlighted Mr Leggett's day-job.  ;) ;D

Mr leggett (does he have a partner named bodgit ? :D)undoubtedly has a vested interest, which marks him out firstly as potentially less trustworthy, and secondly as someone who may have access to large amounts of cash to help prove his point to our incorruptible political leaders. ;)

From what I know of this World it is WATER that will become very worryingly in short supply and highly valued with wars predicted to be fought over it. :o :o :o

Apparently oil is known to be in more bountiful supply than predicted 30 years ago (we were mean't to be using our last drop just about now!! ::) ::) ::)) but exploration has found there is a huge quantity still available, albeit far more expensive to extract than before. :( :(

I believe that they have recently found quite a lot of it in/under Cameroon.

I believe the chairman of Peak Oil is doing what is technically called "covering his arse".

Presumably if he IS right, and oil stocks disappear , he can "legget" to the other side .
