Title: Omega meets Stag.....
Post by: VXL V6 on 31 October 2008, 01:44:36
Omega now needs complete drivers mirror (The actual metal innards were torn like card - part of the metal is still bolted to the door!), new wing or wing pushing back into shape and a T-Cut.

Stag (huge antlers) has a limp and probably star silver Z147A markings.

I had no more verge left to manouvre out of way further as I already had two wheels on the grass and if he'd taken one more step I think he'd have stuck his antlers through the windscreen.  :o

Anyone know any good bodyshops in Warwick or Worcester?  :'(

Sorr to hear about that  :-[ Hope that you are ok. Let me know if i can be of any help checking any places out in the midlands as a few around me not far.

I know of a very good bodyshop in Leicester up the road from me .The guy did my dads one when it had a run in with a bus last year and did a great job.

Is it the drives wing and mirror that you need?.

Just let me know if i can help :y

Managed to get a 2nd hand mirror with the right colour cover from eBay. It's not heated so does anyone know if the two wires will still be present and it's just a case of putted a heated glass in?

What's involved with replacing a wing? Do you just remove all the bolts and it drops off or are there some welds?

Wing - thankfully only minor

Does anyone know if these wires will exist on the loom for a none heated mirror and I just need to change the glass?

Thanks Martin

Only salvageable parts from the mirror are the motor and the loom. :(

Nothing left of the mirror glass (apart from the scratches on the drivers window)

The used one i've bought from eBay will be fine for now and has the correct colour cover, so i'm just looking for a heated mirror glass to retrofit into this in the future.

Cheers

Hey Andy. Sorry to here about your argument with a deer.
It sh!ts you up for a little while after. I hope you get your Mig fixed & soon.
An old school mate of mine hit a deer some years back whilst riding his bike, they found him slumped over a stone wall & he'd been there all night. They never did find the deer, just some hair, skin & blood.
Glad you're ok
All the best. Pete

remember elite mirrors are different to others, so you'll be trying to make 1 good from bits you have.

mirror glass was £35 for last one I bought (prefacelift)

If he'd kept going it would have been cooked by the time he got home.

My journey to and from work takes me through part of Hatfield Forest and I've had a few narrow escapes avoiding collisions with deer. Some of them are huge - one I just missed a couple of years ago was about the size of a donkey! Seen a few get hit and some very badly damaged cars, one of them a complete write off.

On to the subject of door mirrors, I had mine taken off by a lorry a while ago but managed to source a replacement from a member on here for around 65 quid, but I did have to get the cover sprayed to the correct colour. Try a post in the Part For Sale section. :y

What are the differences? I know they are heated (hence have two wires in the loom to power the element) and have the wide angle view but what else is different?

The motors have the feedback for memory.

Thankfully the motor pack has survived along with the loom, though I can't yet see how to extract the loom.......

A freind of mine lives up in Scotland. he hit a deer head on, took the legs from under it, the deer ended up rolling up the bonnet smashing his wind screen, buckling his roof and totalling his beema :o

I think a second later for the stag and it would have been a frontal with similar results  :o

Thanking my lucky stars with the little damage I seem to have got away with.

He has now attached a set ot antlers on that helmet ;D

He was very lucky, few hours in hospital and he was sent home...
