A long story due to SWMBO having had her phone nicked ....
I've now been given her new replacement Nokia 6300 :-? which is locked to Vodafone.
I've had a quick look on Google as to how I might be be able to unlock it, some seem to say it can be unlocked, others mention 'BB5' and say it can't be unlocked.
Any suggestions :-/? Or do I just take it to a market stall & pay up so I can use it with my O2 SIM? ;)

Thanks. It doesn't mention 6300 but links through to another site which specifically says it's NOT for a 6300. It appears it's like a Vx stereo & you have a limited number of tries. :(

we have a shop in town that unlocks phones for £10-£20 have a look around you might find one local to you

I think that'll be the easiest way :y. There's a couple of stalls on Bury Market (http://www.burymarket.com/default2.asp) that'll probably be able to do it. I just thought that there'd be a clever bugger on here that'd be able to say press xxxxxx ;)

if your better half has had an upgrade then simply phone vodaphone and they will unlock it for you (for £20) :y
not being funny but i've been stung before by these dodgy online unlockers so be careful :-/

re-read your post and there is a long story involved but still worth asking vodafone themselves

Thanks for that. :y

By the time you've made the unlocking leads, probably work out cheaper to get someone else to do it.
-
6300 runs Symbian S40, no easy hacks around. Best of taking to the local market or something, pay a tenner to have it unlocked.

Unlocking lead? :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
The phone came with a USB to mini USB if that's what you mean.

Opps, my bad, thought it was an older pop-port. I'm not really gay enough to keep up with all the different models.
Generally, on the Smartphones, you have to patch the radio chip's firmware.
I'm too old, can't be arsed, so would pay £15 to get someone else to do it ;D

I could not class Symbian S40 as a smartphone, the S60 i could, as it can run TomTom and loads of other apps, but not the 6300.

I'm guessing the unlock will still be around the radio firmware :-/

I'm guessing the hardware/software makes it uneconimical for doing 1 - he charges a tenner, which sounds like good value :y
