Been toying with the idea for a while about changing my exhaust system. It passed the MOT ok but seems to have a loose baffle in one of the middle boxes. Sounds a bit "tinny" when i first start up but after a while it quietens down somewhat. Seen some prices for a genuine vaux replacement system and i have also looked into a stainless system as well. I got a reply via an e-mail enquiry i sent for a tailor made freeflow stainless system from the cats back with a no hassle fully transferable lifetime guarantee with a quote for £389 inc fitting and vat. I was also offered a range of tailpipe options and how i wanted it to sound, from quiet to full sport. The company is called Longlife Exhausts and their nearest depot to me is in Carshalton. Has anyone had any dealings with them and do you think it's a reasonable price? Any feedback much appreciated before i commit to buy. Thanx.

I did, and would heartily recommend it. :y

Cheers Nathan :y I knew someone had a stainless system fitted recently but couldn't remember who. I thought your system looked the D's B's when i read your post and saw your pics. Nice to get a thumbs up about a supplier/trader who seems to offer good value for money. I think, when the cashflow allows, i will go for the Mild Sport option. I thought the price they quoted was very reasonable. :y

Good for you, it is worthwhile.
It depends on what you're after, but i went for as quiet as they could do (no loss of power) and it has a lovely deep burble and is inoffensive. Personally speaking I think anything noisier might be be a bit much.
A guy on here (more often on VXON), LS9 had the full sports (not "race" and his sounded like an angry American muscle car. way too much IMHO. Popping and gurgling like a race tuned car.

Thought about quiet but they said Mild Sport was the most popular. Too old to be a "boy racer" and don't definately want to sound like one so may opt for the quiet then. Thanx for input. :y

I think it would be a wise choice considering what you have just indicated about our age. (Me too BTW).
The mild sports is their most popular, but remember that this is in the context that their customers are a slewed sample of the general public in that most (but not all) people who have stainless exhausts do it for noise and enormous tail-pipes, so a noisier option is more likely to be the most frequently made for them.
You, like me, want a stainless exhaust primarily for the performance and longevity rather then the chavvy noise. You will still gain that low rumble at idle that you'll appreciate :y
You're only 20 minutes away from me, if you want to come up to Bedford and see / listen to mine first before you make the investment you'd be more than welcome to.

Recently had the Beastie done with a full stainless de cat system from Rebel powerpipes, (well known in this neck of the woods) He's very good at tailor making the sound you ask for which is what he did. I asked for the best of both worlds. Quiet enough to take your Granny to church but noisy if you're feeling playful. No motorway boom either.

I hope you didn't dent it !
DOes sound nice
My genuine system has a funny whistle :(

I had a long life fitted to mine. they were cheaper than my local using a plain steel or should that be steal, had a slighty throaty box fitted sounds great. are you cetain it's not your front down pipes rattling where the heat shields have come loose.

Having seen and heard it in the flesh today I'll be getting in touch with Longlife soon I think. :y
