Having just posted in the above thread it got me to thinking.
I bought my Elite in April as an upgrade from my 2.5 GLS. Straight away there is a noticable ride quality difference and allthought there is 30/40 BHP extra on Tap is rarely gets used. Yet I have a knackered back box on the GLS and drive it at times accoering to the sound it makes.
Both cars are Autos and with the TC off and Sport Mode on can both shred tyres from a junction if provoked, allthough the GLS sounds better in full song. ::)
I have noticed on a few occasions in the Elite I get beeped or flashed at to speed up. This is not intentional from my point, it's just the way I seem to want to drive the car.
Now over the years I allways wanted something like a Bedford CF van and drop a tasty lump in it, then as Vans moved to FWD I then considered the Idea of a FWD Transit, but drop a RWD 454 Corvette block in the back for some fun down at the pod. Drive it down as FWD, race it as RWD, If I blew i up then I could still drive it home. Given a lottery win then one day that might still happen.
Back to reality. I keep having a look at these with an idea of doing a bit od traveling in the future.

Check out the Interiors.
But it makes you wonder what van you could convert and put a V6 Miggy aEngine nd Auto box in, and whether or not a couple of Miggy leather interiors and some of the trim could be adapted in to it. :)

Hi
I was involved in bands in the seventies the vans were old transists they did all sorts with them one I believe had a Jag engine and gearbox! The vans were the hallmark of the band.
Your comment regarding the driving style I know when out in my 2.5 I just don't want to drive fast and end up leaving early to cruise :D rather than hammer it.
Anyone travelling the A19 from North Yorkshire through Teesside and up to Sunderland WATCH OUT! :o the plod is over head on bridges and well tooled up with bikes BM's etc giving it stick so be carefull. :y

I always fancied buying a 1959-61 Ford Prefect, Ford Anglia or similiar van and fitting a really large engine into it; you know a V8 or V12 which would amaze everyone as outwardly this old van unexpectedly "took off" from the traffic lights! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
But in the real world all I wanted, and still do, is a pink Cadillac! :-* :-* :-* 8-) 8-) :D ;)

Thats why I loved my Pomtiac brick. especially the day I was next to the 911Turbo at the lights, at amber he shot off like his asre was on fire, on green I started drawing on the road with the tyres, at the next set of lights when he finally arrived . . . . . ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think that Ford did something similar in the seventies with a Transit Lizzie......It was called Supervan ....not sure what lump was in it ...but it was quick and it was used in a lot of the Ford promotional blurb.
Anyone remember this. :y :y

Similar Lizzie......they used to actually race Supervan..big fat tyres ..I have a feeling it had a big V8 in it about 350BHP...but I'am not sure. :D ;D :y:y

the Ford supervan - iirc had a cosworth F1 engine and running gear etc; was very fast - 180mph. 8-) :y
