Title: A Huge Thank You!
Post by: LJay on 02 November 2008, 22:54:53
Thank you Mark DTM for battling my MV6 ALL weekend in the cold, pouring  rain!
I'm really sorry it made you suffer!

100 miles below 2000 revs, as instructed, was a bit tedious though! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks also to JueV6 for coming to our rescue and supplying the bit we needed! :y

Just so you don't feel left out........Thanks Jimbob! :-*

Just 2 manifold gaskets!
With a trip to wolves thrown in for good measure!
Apparently the worst job Mark DTM has ever done! That must be saying something! Apparently even the bastard bolt was a bigger bastard than normal!! :(
Reckon he will be avoiding my car in future! ;D

That takes me back. In 1979 I got one of the first MK11 Transits, company van. Read the runnng in instructions, said do not keep it at one speed as it will tend to only want to do that speed, drove it home from Wolvs to Durham, Flat out all the way ;D ;D ;D

Why 100 miles under 2000 RPM? Were any bottom end components replaced?

I've never heard that advice before for manifold gaskets :question

A member and myself spent 8 hours yesterday in the lashing rain doing an ATF change, and an exhaust change, having to drill out the broken cat bolts... the mud was getting down my neck at one point. it is, without doubt, not the best time of year for working on cars, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless   ;D

Thankfully, I couldn't have had a more willing, helpful and cheerful customer...

The plan was to finish it all in one day, but conditions wouldn't allow, so day 2 was service, cam cover gasket change, and breather clean..

Nothing was particularly hard, it was just slow going due to conditions, and partly due to evidence of previous garages overtightening things..

Seems to be Wii logic at the root of the problem. And that's easily solved by Sammy or, in his absence, a little excursion of its' supply voltage outside "normal limits". [smiley=evil.gif]

I stick to computer games I can play on Mame. They know their place. ;D

Percy Pickaxe is a worthy substitute for Sammy, but isn't allowed in the house.

The bloody silly Wii has just called me 39 now :(
