Title: Ebay
Post by: Vamps on 09 November 2008, 21:10:22
Might be a silly question, but someone wants to pay me for an item with an e-cheque, I clearly state pay pal or uncrossed postal orders only, they say that pay pal won't let them do a bank transfer and that an e cheque takes a long time. Any info :)

e-cheque IS Paypal --so the buyer is sticking to the auction conditions. It might not be the buyers fault ..... if your paypal account cannot accept certain payment methods then Paypal will process the payment as an e-cheque. As said it can take up to 10 days to clear -- Paypal will let you know when it does -- but don't send item until it does (it has been known for the e-cheque to go pear shaped!)

I have accidently sent e-cheque's before.

IF one of your cards has expired, paypal just do this for you!

Caused me no end of grief when I needed an urgent part, hadnt noticed my SECONDARY card had expired, so although loads of funds, then sent a, e-cheque!

I ended up buying twice and then getting a refund.

as long as the buyer's ok with you not posting until cleared and is made aware of how long that is, no problem!

my sales on ebay are pretty much always buy it now with immediate paypal payment required, this avoids anyone not wanting to pay cos the ad stays live until they do, and also avoids non-uk scammers!
