Title: well done Joe C
Post by: fatboyfat on 09 November 2008, 18:40:10
well done to Joe Calzaghe last night.Roy Jones not a pushover, to go out to the states(who can be slightly biased in boxing) and return home an undefeated champion is a good indication of what a class act this guy is.
As a follow on i'll ask you ,who you think was the best fighter you saw.
Early Tyson was awesome but for me Sugar Ray Leonard, fastest hands I ever saw,and remember the infamous Roberto Duran fight where he totally took duran apart, prompting the "no more" from Duran.

"Marvellous Marvin Hagler"....more street fighter than boxer but great to watch......Anyone who remembers his fight with Tommy "hit Man" Hearns in the eighties  will know what I mean. :y :y :y :y

it has got to be tempting for a millenium stadium rematch, thing is after last night will Roy Jones Jr want to come over here?

Marvin Hagler v Tommy Hearns were a good spectacle especially as you never knew which Hearns would turn up,the one who wanted to brawl but couldn't as well as Hagler or the one who wanted to box.

For me some of the Eubank vs. "The Dark Destroyer" were great matches.

Have to agree loved watching Eubank and Benn :y
There have been some excellent boxers over the years which makes it rather difficult to answer....

Ali has got to be up there in 1st place I think as he was "The Master of the Ring"...
Joe Lewis also needs to be up there. If anyone has never seen him have a look at this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lnTDtqiYzww my Grandad was a Boxing Fanatic and rated Joe as the Best, listening to his fights on the radio etc...

But all this said Mike Tyson for me was just Fantastic, Mind blowing... I was 15 when he became the Youngest Heavyweight Champion, the way he moved (which alot of people say Tyson could not do, they obviously never watched him)  then let go with his missile punches that no-one could withstand.

As for Joe Calzaghe I take my hat off to him, I didn't think he would actually beat Jones Jnr
I did not see the fight but the score cards had him winning every round other than the first whichnot many have done to Jones.

So well done :y
