Title: Oil now $54/bbl!
Post by: Nickbat on 15 November 2008, 00:31:14
Has anyone noticed that oil is $54 per barrel now? I know that the pound is a bit shaky right now, but I think we are being royally ripped off.  >:(

Hi Nickbat,

I'm (genuinely) not sure what I'm missing, so no offence intended at all - but I've just been to the Netherlands, and Brussels - and both places, petrol was considerably more than it is in the UK.

I've just paid 91.9ppl to fill the meega - I thought I was getting a bargain compared to the 119.9 it was a few months ago.

Do you mean you think it should be cheaper?

As a consumer, in 2008. I must say I feel 90ppl is on the money.

(Not that I'd complain if it was cheaper) ;D

I had been tossing up getting a 406 diesel, but when unleaded is 15p less than diesel, I may as well keep enjoying the V6...

If we all sign a pledge to plant a tree and hug it at least twice a day, will Gormless drastically reduce the tax on fuel which put in place for purely environmental reasons? I really think he will. :y

Hi James,
It was a late-night post and perhaps not one of my most enlightening!  ;D ;D ;)

Around here the price of unleaded has consistently been around 95 or 96ppl for the last three weeks, while the cost of crude has tumbled almost daily. Obviously there is a time lag, but the rate of fall at the forecourt should match the wholesale rate. I must admit that I hadn't done my homework properly, for I discovered today that the cheapest in the land is about 90ppl. I wouldn't disagree that 90ppl is on the money, although i suspect that 85ppl is a more realistic reflection of $54bbl.

However, given the wide disparity between same-brand prices in different areas, it does make me think there there are some fast bucks being made.

Ah ha... I see!
I certainly wouldn't mind paying 85ppl ;D
