Does that mean you have a spare? Ready for when the first top quality one packs up? ;D ;D ;D

they are the cheap nasty type I get from electronics fairs for around £2.50... ...they don't last long, but then I tend to leave them in rain etc.
-
I bought a cheapy from Exeter show yesterday £3, can't buy a set of replacement leads from maplins for that.
-
Got a couple of those the last time they were on BOGOF about twelve months ago, there still going strong o.k for the price :y
-
i got one from aldi for 6 squids few months ago

Bought one very similar a few years ago. Still going strong. Tends to be heavy on the batteris IMO.
A cheap MM beats the crap out of no MM :y

Agree. The reason I buy cheap ones, rather than use my decent one on cars is purely because i mistreat them ::)

I bought a Fluke auto ranging digital multimeter when I first started work about 26 years ago for around £130 (two weeks money for me then!) but it's been as good as gold. They're still about the same money even now. I've used and abused mine, dropped it in a bucket of water, left it out in the rain, you name it I've done it but it still works a treat. Kinda get what you pay for I guess :y

i find fluke a bit like snapoff tools - do the job, but overrated. the autorangers seem a tad slow as well...

Accurate though!
Aw hell, what's happened to my Avatar? It's gone all huge :o Do I need to resize it?

Yes, they are a bit slow but very reliable. I have 2 that have been in constant use for quite a few years, and they still work well. Its about what you need, if you do the basic checking alternator volts, or continuity then these are fine, however if you want readings you can believe, then Fluke take some beating.
