Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year. :y ;) :)

Hi Geoff, glad its going ok for you.
I have a question regarding the V6 heads.
How are the valve guides fitted and when replacing them do they need to be
a) Stuck with some retainer
b) Reamed following fitting
I have some heads which need new guides and if they dont require reaming then I could tackle it myself.

Welcome back Geoff - Merry Xmas

Good grief...give the man time to get his coat off!! ;)

LOL... welcome back, good to hear things are going OK :)

Hi Mark they were frozen and then forced in (interference fit) most remanufacturers heat the head up to remove them - not a good idea due to the tight tolerances they were machined to (microns). I just replace the valves - the only damage to the guides is the 8mm overhang into the ports - never had any comebacks - where as, ones that have been replaced in the above manner have been known to come loose!!!!!!!
this is why Vauxhall advise a new cylinder head.
They also sell valves with oversize stems - there's a special kent moore reamer set that also re-cuts the valve seat at the same time.
