This Omega was spotted today somewhere on the continent (I am on holiday, but not from this site!), can anyone spot what is unusual about this car?

Ones real and ones a falsie!
-
Did I miss something here? One what?
I do agree that you need a new camera!!!! The spoiler is wrong though.
-
Looking closely at the first picture, it actually has two exhausts.
Maybe the owner shoehorned a V8 lump into it ;D
-
Looks like he's gone for the wheelbarrow effect lol ;D

Yeah, the 24v Straight Six was proving too thirsty, but it's costing a fortune in hay and the aircon don't work!!

Yeh but look how much money you make from flogging manure ;D ;D

Right on both counts: it's an odd V8 exhaust setup on a 2.5TD, and I do need a new camera...
Since I didn't see who the car's owner was, no idea if he actually went into the trouble of setting-up two rear boxes, or perhaps one is fake. But I suspect that it is a proper dual setup - the left pipe is identical to the right one and seems a little out of place compared to the location of the original pipe.
-
Not unusual, seen a twin rear exhaust setup before on an omega.....in fact, didn't Irmscher do one....

Yes.

It makes sense on the V6, if you separate the exhaust pipes from the heads onwards i.e. two cmplete separate systems, but I fail to see the point of having two back-boxes on an inline engine... apart from the visual affect that is.

Attracted by the title funnily enough ::)
I have 1996 2.5TD, bought of ebay couple weeks ago as work hack.
I was expecting the worst, but what a surprise, 45+mpg compared to
my carlton gsi which was best 28mpg, so the omega has earned it's place
on my drive :)
Actually I'm toying with the idea of twin rectangle exits myself, I've made a
new ss rear box cos don't fancy trying to mod the existing box, plus if I ever
chop it in I can replace the std box. It's got a towbar which I've had to heavily
chop up and re-weld to allow access for the secon pipe from the box. Trims are
made just need the push to stick it all on........but I'm not 100% convinced
should go ahead yet, plus it's too damn hot ;D.
You might think why on a TD, well just for a laugh really......and I hate the limp
dick type of tailpipe on there at the moment.
I see bigrod's on here too, familiar avatar nice to see. Actually he recommended
this forum so I| blame him.

Still need a balance pipe though or they sound crap....

It is a stunning looking car!!
When i had my exhaust done they would have done it for the same cost but i wasnt too sure how it would sit with the standard bumper
-
stunning
any ideas of costs??

any ideas of costs??
Probably also stunning!

Powerflow will build it as part of the standard cost around £400, rear bumper from Irmscher will cost a kidney and a lung, although there are cheaper 'copies' on e bay occasionally
-
Spot on Mark, irmscher did indeed do one, that's what's on my baby.
It is just a single back box with twin pipes, you also need the irmscher bumper as well though.
-
Welcome Kev, you found us all then!
I like the look of it personaly, just cant bring myself to part with the cash!
-
Hi Mark,
Yup i've finally made it over.
It was a long journey. ;D lol
Thanks for all your help earlier. I'm waiting for Autovaux getting back to me. Their computers were down when i phoned.
-
Well,
Final push over last 2 days, much longer job than I wanted, and was still not really
convinced until the end result. I'm quite pleased with it 8-) . Sounds just as
quiet as it did with oe back box.

Smoke seems to puff out quite evenly, I would say if anything more from o/s
which I find bit strange.
ok, most of you are like WFT! on a diesel....hell it's different :D
-
Looks a tidy job [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
I'm not sure I would go for a twin system myself though.
