Title: Stanley Knives & Guitar players -Big mistake!
Post by: Big_Al on 18 November 2008, 17:19:02
Nightmare -  :o :o :o   Cutting some plasterboard at work this afternoon- slipped with the blade and now have two very deep slash cuts in my index and middle fingers .

Not good for a guitar player like me one thinks :-[ :-[ :-[
Won't be playing for a fewdays at least. :( :(

Had a laugh when I called SWMBO to tell her though. I said "I've just a bit of an accident at work and cut off my finger"   - "What" she said " not the whole finger"

" No - Don't worry" I said "It's the one next to that one" ;D ;D ;D ;D

im always doing it drylining, usually the cut swells up a bit after and becomes a bit sore, and you cant bend the finger fully. its the lime in the plasterboard

I got it straight away. very good. I'm a guitarist too an I know what a worry cutting ya fingers can be - especially if your're a giggin guitarist.  Take a tip... if its your chord hand... don't play until they have completely healed because the strings will cause permanant damage and leave scar tissue which will always keep opening up during a gig. My lead guitarist did just that and after 4 years he is still getting probs with his fingers splitting open. And yes he does use super-glue but it stings like billy-o and you have no sensation in your finger-tips. Bloody hell.....sorry to have rattled-on.. what a twonk!

Stevie Ray Vaughan (or so legend has it anyway)
Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) lost a fingertip so uses a thimble over the end.although the crap they play,it wouldnt make much difference ;D
you could stop playing Shads stuff Al,and start playing guns,n roses instead. (Slash...geddit?) sorry :-[ ;D...get well soon mate.
And remember,as The Boy says "a bit of pain never hurt anyone" :y

Update on Cut fingers!

As SWMBO  is a nurse, she sorted out the dressing of the damaged fingers. no damage to fingertips thankfullyas it was my fretting hand.

Nurse Sally says a few days & they should be OK. Feels not too bad today but guitar is out of bounds on Nurses Orders :( :(

I think that maybe some of you OOFERS did not quite get the "HOLE Finger" gag Eh! :-[ :-[ :-[

Regards, Al :y :y :y :y
