Title: Power Packs
Post by: Auto Addict on 26 December 2006, 09:18:38
Has anyone got one of these? Are they any good?

Had some money for Xmas and considered blowing on a Power Pack.

Looks handy AA, but...how often are you REALLY going to need it?

Be ideal for blowing up AA's paddling pool during the summer  ;D

Wonder if its on Halfords Trade card?  :-/

I had one of these, came in very handy for the neighbours, not me.

IIRC, one of them "borrowed" it a long time ago. :-/

i got one  ;D

Well its my grandads i borrowed it when i had project A, due to its flat battery.

Very, very usefull... i am hoping he is going to forget i have it  ;)

Used it when my battery went flat, the people next door also used it back in London. Highly recommended  :y

See what I mean, AA. Just "borrow" someone elses, before they "borrow" yours ;D

Suppose I could 'borrow' tunnies or threaten to tell his grandad he's still got it.... ;D

As for the air compressor....

I can’t comment on this particular unit, but my experience with 12V air compressors is that it takes eternity and a half to actually pump-up a tyre, in fact I do it faster with a foot pump.

I do keep one in the boot (a cheapo one I must admit) for emergency – but then I keep a lot of stuff in the boot for emergency as has been mentioned in another thread…

Having said that – the Halfords unit might be more powerful so I wouldn’t want to knock it.

I've got the cheaper "power pack 100" - the difference being £20 more cost and the addition of a 240V inverter on the power pack 200.

Works well for starting cars, even has a pair of big LEDs which show if the polarity is correct. Two flourescent tubes (you can switch on one or both of them as required) and 2 cigarette lighter outputs.

Very handy bit of kit :)

I used to keep mine tucked away in the back of my shed. If I got a flat battery away from home....tee hee... :-[
