Had a really minor prang last week where I was sitting in traffic in my Omega, just stop start in the que to get onto a roundabout - anyway I was moving forward and then stopped and then felt a thump as the corsavan behind me drove into the back of me - we were nowhere near the roundabout, but I suspect he was either texting or setting his satnav as he was looking down but he just looked up and waved his hand in apology - and then got back to whatever it was that he was doing ........ so I pulled over to the side of the road so we could let the traffic behind us continue and got out to look to see what damage there was (if any as it was very minor) I noticed that his towing point cover had popped off but apart from that nothing on his black plastic bumper - looked at mine and nothing too obvious but the car was dirty and it was difficult to see any scratches etc - the guy was dissmissive and said that bumpers are meant to take a whack etc but I insisted on taking his details - just as well - took it to the body shop for a check over and they cleaned off the dirt to reveal a nice "O" where the towing point has punched into the rear bumper - and he also whacked my exhaust so total to repair is £500 - moral of the story is ALWAYS get the details when possible as I so nearly let it go as I was on my way to a meeting and didn't want to be late.
Will call his company tomorrow to find out how they want to play it :)

You're not obliged to give insurance details to the other party, just name address.

I tapped the back of a Corsa a while ago. I gave the guy an envelope with my dteails on, he tore the back off and wrote his details on the other peice. The he gave me back my details and kept his.
This is the point where my stupidity/honesty comes in. I pointed out the error and made sure we had swapped.
Then he never called me which saved me a wedge of money!
