A good friend of mine is considering a swap. He's got at 04 X-Type 2.0D 174K miles, but drives like it's half its age. The car on offer is a 51 plate 2.2 CDX Estate, leather interior etc 91K and it's up for £2200.
The guy is keen on a straight swap...but is it worth it?
Also, my mate has mentioned a button-type-of-thing in the centre of the upper face both front seat bases. I haven't got a face-lift model...is this normal?

Depends on the condition of the 2 cars. I know which one I'd rather be driving. X type diesels are as rough as a bear's @rse, but that doesn't answer your question. :-/

Are you sure he is not talking about the electric seat control buttons, Different location on the seat base though.

I think it's the kind of thing that you get on oldie-style arm chairs. Some sort of repair perhaps?
As far as I know, both cars are in above average condition for their age. Whatcha recon?

Depending on the month the Omega was registered (ie pre march 2001) it could be beneficial for Road Tax purposes. The condition has to be taken into account too. I wouldent want to comment on my preference between the 2...... ::) ::) ::) ::)

I quite recently sold my jaguar X-Type 3.0SE auto ,and frankly I was glad to get rid of it.
Sorry to any X-Type owners on this forum, but it is really just a Mondeo...but not a very good one.
Avoid if possible. :-/ :-* :-* :-*

Xtype is really a mondeo and that Diesel engine is a ford Di Lump so it wont pack up but that is a high mileage for what is really a mondeo i know a V6 omega will do that mileage
also make sure the clutch works as its ££££££££££ to fix has a dual mass flywheel and if its like a mondeo the sub frames off etc

OK...I'll rephrase my question...are they are similar value and what is the button/fastener in the middle of the seat? I've never seen that before.

the jag is very hard to price because of its mileage!
