The wife has just had here free service and MOT at autoplanet and they are insisting that the cambelt needs changing on her 2002 Vaux Vecta C, I am sure that the 2.2 engine had a chain not a belt, the car had done 45,000 miles so would probably be due a cambelt, however I think they are trying to fleece the misses, she nearly paid the £450 to have it changed,, luckily she phoned me first and I stopped her !!!!!
Does anyone know if the 2.2ltr enigne in the 2002 Vectra C had Cam chain or Cam belt????
Regards
Steve

Sorry mate, don't know. I'm sure I've seen something on here about it though so it might be worth a search..!

Petrol or diesel? And please resize your avatar!
-
its been a good 3 years since i worked on cars but the diesels have a chain and all the 2.2 petrols i ever saw where belts, and if its a belt £450 is way over the top price wise even if they change all the belts and water pump in that price,
its a wile since i did anything on the chain driven engine but i think £450 is dear even to do that as the chain as a kit is only £100ish so thats £350 labour 4 a job that i seem to remember taks 4 hours thats £87.50 an hour

Do you know the engine code?
eg. something like Z22SE
Should be on the car pass where the radio code is found :y
If it is Z22SE (which I think it has to be) then it has a chain.

the 2.2 Vectra B is definately Chain, dont know on the C though sorry
