Title: New Grille for the Omega
Post by: HNO3GOH on 17 November 2008, 18:23:58
I have been looking in to getting a grille made out of stainless steel for my face lift Omega.
The company I have found to do this for me make them for only a few Vauxhall's but they have sent me a pic of an astra so to give you some idea of what it would look like.

The Grilles are made from 316L Stainless Steel. They are not coated but are electro polished to provide a long lasting bright finish. Washing the grilles at the same time as washing your car is the only maintenance required, and because there is no coating there is nothing to flake, or chip.

The fitment is made easy by use of locating clips through the original factory fitted grilles and then secured with self tapping screws. There is no need to drill the car.

Now this is early days but if you want one or more info then let me know or the holy count and the company we have found to do this have said the more orders they take then the less they will cost and also just as a thought they may also be able to put the Omega Owners Club badge on to it as well.

Please let us know your thoughts :y

what colour's the omega its going on?

will you still be incorporating the V in it too?

sounds like a fantastic idea for a bulk group-buy

I was thinking of putting it on my dark purple 3.0 and as for the V not sure but I think it would look very nice with the V.

Would like to see a wider angle on a darker coloured car, provisionally, it looks quite classy...

The one in the pic fits over the original grille -- the "V" being that on the original.  TBH --- although, on the standard grille I dislike the "V", but on a wire grille it has class.

Price wise --- a prototype (or one off) would set us back iro £300, for which we could design it pretty much as we liked.  10 - 15 orders would bring it down to almost "production line" costs of around half that price or less --- still talking Irmsher prices, but getting a far superior product.  The company manufactures for the likes of Jaguar.

Before we can look at actual pricing we need to gauge the order potential .... 10 - 15 "definite maybes" will allow us to talk more seriously with the factory, to get a design finalised and a better pricing structure -- from there we will need a dozen or so definites before production can go ahead.

So -- keep posting ideas and opinions ...............

Yes ... it's a pity the grilles aren't interchangable. But there's always the possibility, given enough interest, of having the different versions -- just means we'd need 10 - 15 genuinely interested bodies from each version.....................

Just to let you guys know that the company who I will go to for this style grille may also be able to do the lower bumper grille in the same stainless steel, now I think that would look very good :)

Have been looking at replacing mine, so yes at a price of around £150 sounds ok if you can get enough made for that price.
Wouldn't splash out £300 though.
Keep the "V" look and as in the pic would do me.

Now I hope this will give you some idea of what a lower grille would look like in stainless steel with the bonnet grille.

I voted for the "lower grille" option, but obviously I meant that + main grille.

Personally I think I might prefer it if they did them in matt back too.

But I would consider it. Can you tell me whether they could do a matt black set?
