Title: HT Leads - where I can get a good ones
Post by: mkaminski100 on 16 November 2008, 10:37:43
Few days ago I found that my V6 engine in Vectra works lumpy. Revs were going up and down and it was taking ages to go down to idle revs.
After quick check I found a disco on 2.4.6 bank. Odd thing is that HT leads on this bank look new comparing to first bank. Don't look like Vx ones but still are nice and clean.
It might be cheap poxy product anyway so I think I have to replace HT leads on both banks.
I asked AutoVaux about it - £61 (incl P&P) and it's an "OEM" product, but without any brand marking. I thought that BERU is making Vx HT leads and aftermarket products are marked BERU. Do you know what products do they offer and are these worth paying £61? I know that it's not a lot but many HT leads on the market will only last a year or so and I don't want to have same problem next winter.

I also went to Vx and was told that I need 2 sets which are £240!. I was also told that this is not a TC product and final price is £210, which still is a lot.
Do you know if this really is not a TC product?

Hotel21 - not a problem.
mr richierich - £25 sounds like bargain, especially that OEM without any name on it cost £60 including ABS trade discount.
Who make such cheap HT leads and who I should contact to get a set?

Markey Mark –  I need a set for Vectra, and I know that Omega HT leads will not fit Vectra… plugs and one cable is too short. Do you have a set for Vectra? Are these in Bosch box, branded Bosch? Please don't get me wrong, it just sounds too good. Last time I was looking for a 4 pot ones, Vx quoted me ca £100, Halfords £30 (Bosh) and £25 (Halfords) and local auto factors £50 for some “good quality ones”. Eventually I got the NGK set from Poland for £20.
This time for a V6, Vx told me £210 (2x 4pot price), and NGK set in Poland is ca £50 so also 2x price of 4 pot.... £30 sounds like a bargain...

mr richierich – who is selling £25 quid leads on ABS?

I called EuroCarParts, as they are a BERU dealer and was asked about my car. I also told that I'm after a BERU.
"BERU, you say.. Not a problem. £33+VAT"
Good price so I asked again if this is a BERU for sure. "Yes"
Today I drove 20 miles to Reading just to be told that this bunch of f >:( mappets only have some poxy unbranded leads for £33+VAT!!
And you know what, I was told that I should have known that I cant get BERU for £40 and they just use BERU item numbers!
I was there twice and they fooled me twice. They tried to sell "Bosal" exhaust - which was the cheapest crap. Now I will ask for a written confirmation before going anywhere... at least I went to my favourite kebab takeaway so I'm not that angry anymore ;)

Went to Hallfords - they dont have any V6 HT leads in the system.

Anyway, thanks for info.
I already posted a question on ABS and no response so far...
Just found a Bosch leads on e-bay for £30 (incl P+P). Designed for my Vectra (Omega HT will not fit Vectra V6 - one cable will be too short), good price, from PowerSeller, so I ordered a set...  Spent 2 weeks so this was the best solution... Hope it's going to be ok.

must give the vectra its dues on this!

compared to the V6 Omega's the V6 vectras leads are a damn site easier to change! yes omega ones have a longer plug tube or something like that aswell!
