Title: Valuation please!
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 20 November 2008, 17:49:59
Very much just testing the water here, as I am considering a different type of toy  ::)

If I were to list this on Autotrader, what do you think is a realistic starting point?

2000 W Omega 3.0 V6 Elite Estate
Automatic Trans
MOT Sept 2009
158,000 miles
Unmarked Black Leather
CID and colour sat Nav
BOSE
Climate, Cruise, etc, Usual Elite Spec.

Good points:

Exhaust changed very recently for an Eternalcar one. Same quality as the latest release of VX exhaust, since they are no longer double skinned!

Cambelt kit done by me, 3000 miles ago.

Sonnax thrust washer, and recent ATF change.

New wishbones

Easy 30+mpg on a run.

WIM treatment less than 3,000 miles ago

Bad points:

Aircon needs looking at - not cold.

Light (not deep) mark on front bumper, probably easily taken out, and some minor damage to a corner of rear bumper, but nothing to worry about.

Facelift Elite alloys will be supplied, freshly sanded and painted but will need new tyres fitting to them. Car is currently on Steels, with excellent tyres on.

Any ideas what it should be listed at? I've lost touch, so will be guided by others, if I do decide to change...

£1k on a good day  :-/

Best way is to check what is selling on Autotrader (not what is advertised!)

You're thinking along simelar lines as me really..

Excuse me being daft, how can I check what's sold, rather than what's adverised?

You can't - you would be lucky to get a grand

Note whats for sale now, check again in week. Any that have disappeared, call a few to see if still available, and be a bit cheeky if sold, and ask what price it went for, saying it will help you negotiate with other sellers ;).  Even call a few that are still advertised.

£1k should be achievable on the right day if the car is presented properly.

Exactly - you replace with another car the same value, you might be buying a right money pit.

And the fact you were considering selling this year means I won the bet, and you owe me a tenner ;D

The fact you were asking its value, and checking AT is enough to convince me I was right!

Next curry is on you ;)

Can't remember which one we went to, but they are all pretty good except the one up near the bike shop...

So what are you considering then James?
Title: Re: Valuation please!
Post by: tunnie on 20 November 2008, 20:16:18
sadly, £1k is going to be the best case scenario.

I think £800 is a more reasonable figure in the current climate, its close to xmas, no one wants to buy a big 3.0 with high miles at the moment.

A 2000 W plate CDX estate sold on e-bay couple of days ago with one bid of £895.

IIRC it had lass than 100k, so based on that yours without 'tyred' alloys would be about the same

BUT if you want to swap for a lower millage CDX saloon drop me a pm  :y
